I live in a small bachelor suite
It has a frig, small sink and a nice microwave with fan. There is a small counter, about 2.5 ft.

What I don't have is a stove and I would like to cook a few things ,like a grilled cheese sandwich, omelet ,hash brows, potato pancakes, maybe a stake or chicken. And optional to also cook a pizza or backed /roasted potato.

There might be a few other things like do burgers, fish or prawns and there could be a pannie.

So I have been looking at things like just a ingredients elimen ,or a electric frYing pan, then there are a mutable of flat iron grills that can do 4 or 5 things from fried eggs and bacon, stake and hamburgers, panties and and even a chicken breast.

Other option would be a toaster oven which does some things but not other.

I am just look for some thoughts on what some of you use and if I might need more then one .

Of course they run from lows of $30 to highs of a few hundred but I am looking for the cheapest that fit all criteria.

The George Foreman is a GREAT idea!
Great for steaks, chicken, and fish! Not too bad to clean up, as long as you are timely in doing so after your meal.
Makes a great grilled cheese sandwich as well

i bought a griddle. oster $19.99US from Fred Meyer in Bellingham. Works great for most of the above foods. Also have a George Foreman. Is there a stove attachment in your suite? If not then it means the landlords most likely had it removed so that they could claim that the suite you live in is not a legal one. saves them a few hundred bucks in property taxes. hopefully you're getting a bit of a rent discount.

There are a number of great grills out there
Geoge for men is the least of them .

No Stove that is why I am looking for something to cook these other foods

I have been getting alone with out and just microwaving frozen dinners .but I get tired of that stuff.
And i eat out lunch most working days
So I might just have a snack for supper .

A good quality toaster oven can be used as an actual oven to cook things like chicken, etc. Just don't go that cheap. You can get a grill or a basic hot plate to cook on. A grill is a great ideal because you can make everything in them & they don't make your place too hot.

I had a friend that used to use a rotary oven. Seemed like it could cook just about anything.

Very good idea
Some of the larger table top appliances tend to take quite a bit of power and will blow a breaker, you may want to take that into consideration before you purchase.
There is a reason why a microwave has its own isolated circuit.
You know.......a barbecue solves an awful lot of problems for me. I realize most of the members here can't cook in their backyard over a fire like I can...I also forgot to mention I broke the light bulb that creates the heat in my sisters easy-bake oven.

I bought a decent Black & Decker toaster oven from Canadian Tire for around $50 that has broiler and bake (convection) options and I've been using it to cook everything I would normally make in a regular oven.

I also forgot to mention I broke the light bulb that creates the heat in my sisters easy-bake oven.
I have memories of cutting tiny 3" diameter cakes into 6 pieces so everyone in my family could have some.

When I think about most of what I want to cook
A electric skillet will cook 75% and then some

when we re did our kitchen, we were out of it for about two months.

a slow cooker that doubles as a roaster you can even fry things in it was invaluable
I barbied a lot. micro wave,

um and already mentioned, a hot plate, Costco, had one of those conduction plates on sale at the time, I checked and it worked with a couple of our pots and fry pans, we ended up cooking about everything we normally did,

Agree induction cooktop is most versatile overall.
It can accommodate a large pot-o-chili to a small fry pan.
The induction cooktop, together with a toaster oven (under cabinet?), could handle most single or double meal requirements.

That said - I use my small George Forman a lot for grilled cheese & steaks, but I also have lots of counter space & a full sized range.

I got an induction so my five year old grandson cannot burn himself. They are pretty neat.

My oven needed replacement in December. While waiting for my new one, I used a countertop convection oven from Breville. They have packed a fair amount of capability into those things. Backing, roasting (small cuts), pizzas, toast, etc etc. I got mine on points but see the new ones range from $170 to $400.

Seems like a pretty useful countertop oven that I was able to make complete meals.

The George Foreman are excellent too.

Well you can see my delema

They all are usefull

And induction element is safe and you just have to pick what ever pan you need to cook a number of different stuff
An electric skillet will do much the same.

There are a number of grills out there that are well built and do more then a geoge Forman grill. And at a reasonable price.

Toaster oven again can do a lot of stuff too
Maybe even fry eggs and deffinetly woukd do bacon.

If I had $300 or more to spare I would buy them all .and see which one end vip never being used lol.

Reality is I could do everything with a stove and oven and the pans to go with it but that not a choise I have right now .

Have you got space for a BBQ outside? Get a small travel sized one and you can cook a ton of things.
