Anyone else notice a whole bunch of unfamiliar amateur SP ads suddenly showing up on CL just before New Year's? Like when credit card bills are rolling in? Kinda funny.

I just notice that I have all the time in the world and can't find the established ones I actually want to see... (Note - no disrespect to the ones who posted, I just had a few in mind)

Its a popular time of year, especially duos, and more, as a Christmas present for oneself. For some SPs its become expected to book many weeks (or more) in advance for December. On the other hand, middle or late January is usually easier to schedule in my experience. Sort of like getting reservations at popular restaurants, I suppose.

Um, no, both December and January are traditionally slow. It's easy to see by the number of specials that are running around. Other SPs may choose to take time off rather than wait for calls. I don't think clients who give themselves a present once a year make much impact.

There is a limited supply on Christmas Day / New Year's Day, SPs spend time with their families. Not much different from any Sunday.

I dunno how having to see a woman sell her body to pay the bills qualifies as 'kinda funny'.

Any male who thinks working in this industry is a joke...or easy money should take some pics of himself and post an ad in the male escort section of leolist..
Or better yet, glam himself up and put an ad in the Transexual section.. then report back to us on perb next month..
grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence

thanks for the reminder as well as your contributions :)

possibly he wasn't trying to be literal, just using "kind of funny" as an expression as in something different

I'm not sure a male would even need to be a prostitute to understand. They could have an SO, a sister, Mom or female friend doing it & spend a couple of days with them to understand. The real scary part about the women coming out of the woodwork to sell their bodies to pay bills is there isn't really a manual for it. They're often most at risk & most sought out by the predators.

To some yes, but I think for many guys it's more a misunderstanding than anything.

Maybe you should have said.."kinda ironic"...or..???? Then again why should you have to change the way you communicate just to please the overly PC..or overly something. Kinda hard to tell the white knights from the trolls sometimes.....thin line between them.

got to agree with you that there was an over reaction to your comment

sometimes a little slack is in order

not to undermine the message they were sending which is I presume, making fun of anyone's vocation

just did not read that as your intent

Not to start a flame war but where is there any "white knight" anything in this? To start, Caramel is an SP; I've seen her ad's before. My point was the comment came across as negative. In another thread someone mentions they wish the women would take part more in the discussions in the Lounge. Why would they? Who wants to enter a debate where they immediately get shit flung at them? Remember around 7 or so years ago, the Lounge often had 200+ active viewers and the females took an active part in posting. Today it's mostly crickets. And as for me being a "white knight in an ivory tower" that baffles me. If the purpose of a white knight is to rescue an STW from the industry and save her well I'm getting a failing grade.

PS. I know I quoted you but it was more a response to the forum not you directly SB.

no worries, I didn't object to any of the negative feedback

I just thought the trigger was misread and that it was meant as an innocent phrase but not literally funny

I would say that his comment about white knights, ivory towers, etc was a bit much

ahhh the art of polite social discussion, is it a lost art????

Lost art? Hell it's dead and buried long ago. The internet robbed that from us. And trolling isn't just an art now, it's a business. Companies & political parties have long since hired trolls to inject their agenda into social media, etc to spread their word or just annoy people. And business hires DFI's (Digital Forensic Investigators) to find out who is creating the lies. All this fake news shit has been around for years. I know certain media outlets have banned comments entirely (Sun Media has). I once saw a woman in the National Post who went on this rant after some payday loan stores closed down because of some changes a provincial government made. Well she starts blaming Trudeau and then the UN, etc. Holy fucking #SpaceCadet.

It's too bad. The internet had such potential.

when I was in my mid teens, a new, older friend of mine in Toronto was talking about his trip to New York

When I asked what New York was like he replied, its got the best of everything and the worst of everything

Often thought that was a very good way to describe the Big Apple, think in some ways it applies to the internet as well

I generally agree, the internet has it's positives & negatives. The real ugly shit is on the dark net. You should see some of the political forums on there. I have often wondered if there isn't a Perb like thing down there. I can only imagine.
