Sadly, another reason to vote for Trump.

To teach those stupid, under-educated , self-righteous assholes that (just because they're pretty celebrities and someone wants to fuck them) most of us don't give a shit what they think.

So the reason to vote for a celebrity is because you hate celebrities telling you what to do? Absurd.

Scientists provide the facts of global warming, but since they've got no money, no connections, no fame outside of their field, so the usual head-in-the-sand crowd ignore them.

Fast forward a number of years, and someone who has listened to them has the money, connections, and fame then repeats what the scientists have been trying to tell the public. And this time the trolls cry out "oh ignore them, they've got no right to talk about it because they're not scientists"

Just another bullshit excuse to keep believing in the power of ignorance. Facts are facts are motherfucking facts. Time for people to face them.

Any climate-change doubters need to ponder this one. China never acts without reason, without a long-term goal that's best for the country. At one point they were putting a coal fired power plant online every week, to now pursue wind and other renewables is pretty significant. (Air quality probably didn't hurt the argument).

As to the hater on Leo, and others who doubt the science behind climate change, why exactly are you afraid of accepting the science behind it? My theory is the majority of people are afraid of change, and facing the change that is needed to reduce the temperature rise is too much. I'm afraid of change too, but I'd rather we (humans) have a say in the change rather than let nature tell us that the change tha it's going to do isn't going to be good for us. Better the devil we know, our current environmental patterns. Plus, many of the technologies and policies can be job makers.

Hold on guys. Where did I say I was a climate change denier? (I'm not - in fact, I've spent a good chunk of my career here in Texas in the renewables business - and studied under some real atmospheric science experts - not the star of Basketball Diaries)

I just think it's sad that a stupid actor (who was born in Hollywood, started acting at age 13 and dropped out of high school in Grade 11) is passing himself off as some smug self-important climate expert - and you dudes are all kissing his ass and lapping it up. It's a shame the public won't listen to real experts, instead of "pretend experts" who use their celebrity status to teach us how (someone else told them) to think.

The more I see that kind of drivel, the more I want to vote for Trump just to say fuck you to preening preachy pretenders like DiCaprio. (and Hillary doesn't make it any easier ... I wish the GOP had a credible candidate - they'd be running away with this one. Hillary is damaged goods - after all the fucked up things that Trump has said and done, can you believe he's still within striking distance? That says it all).

As to China, they are just being prudent (and last time I looked, they've been dragging their feet on this issue for years - only ratifying the Paris accord 2 short months ago). If you spent anytime around Shanghai 5-7 years ago, you'd realize they had to do something before they choked themselves to death. Major improvements since then.

Personally, I'm not that hopeful that government's will save us in time. This is one slow ship to turn around. Scientific innovation is likely our only hope.

So you think you are the only one who went to school and the rest of us learned everything from listening to Leonardo Di Caprio.

Not to menton diCaprio has a carbon footprint probably one hundred times what the average person has, what with huge wardrobe purchases, multiple mansions, exotic yachts, travelling frequently by jet, etc.

All I have to say is LOL. All you conservatives are just like Trump. Brag, lie, and divert the conversation in a different direction. You are a climate change denier.

So...you agree with the science, but you'll vote for someone who pisses all over it?

Was this thread about climate or Di Caprio?
Di Caprio's opinion does not invalidate the actual climate change argument.
But a good hijack nonetheless.

Not arguing the subject matter, but why listen to what any celebrity has to say about anything?

Not only do they not have expertise, but, like diCaprio they are usually hypocrites, telling others how they should live, while over-using and wasting resources far more than average.

Walk the walk before preaching.

Pierre, you're usually more lucid and intelligent than this statement implies.

I am not a climate change denier. In fact, expressly said that. I'm probably more worried about it than you are.

Not ALL conservatives are like Trump. Some of the most passionate atmospheric change experts I know are conservative (the very name implies wanting to "conserve" - while I'll admit there are ALOT of crackpots in our bunch). Have you been to Texas?

Just like not ALL liberals are bleeding hearts who can't balance a check book (or crooked like Hillary) it's not fair to label everyone as thinking the same.

That's a fair criticism. I do agree with the science (that the climate is warming) but I'm a little more skeptical about government's ability to do anything about it (even if we do our best, it might not delay the inevitable?) This planet has gone through multiple phases of cooling and warming. That's not to say we shouldn't try, but I think the solution is in innovation and a technological game changer (much like the internet changed the way the planet communicates).

I will never vote for anyone solely on the basis of their position on climate change. That makes as much sense of voting on whether they believe in God.

You're welcome to vote on that single issue. I won't. Too many other issues I care more about, and which politicians have the ability to affect in the next 10 years.
