I love sports, but am usually too busy to catch all the games. I try to see the highlights whenever I can and have noticed that more and more women are hosting on the major Canadian networks. I think most do a better job than some of the men (particularly the old guard). Here are my top 3 best and worst:
Best
1. Natasha Staniszewski - TSN. By far my favourite. Not only is she beautiful and classy, she has great delivery. She has a great voice and is genuinely interested in sports.
2. Caroline Cameron - SportsNet. Similar to Natasha in terms of qualities, but also has a good sense of humour and keeps it light. You can just tell she has great personality and loves what she does.
3. Kate Bierness - TSN. She's sort of a combination of the other two, but probably the most bubbly and energetic. I know that some of the joking moments can be a bit corny, but she is very consistent with her delivery and enthusiasm. She's definitely unique.
Worst
1. Jackie Redmond - SportsNet. Too young and out of her league. Her cadence is robotic and you can tell she's basically reading a card. I can't stand her sarcastic sense of humour and she seems very awkward in interviews.
2. Jennifer Hedger - TSN. Can't stand her or Darren Dutchyshen. He drones on and I can't take his voice as does Hedger. Terrible cadence! She's been around for awhile, but I found her better earlier on in her career. She projects a smug attitude and acts far too overconfident.
3. Carly Agro - SportsNet. Simply put, she's boring. She's been paired with a few other co-hosts and she can't seem to find the right chemistry with any of them. She has a good delivery and her voice is okay, but doesn't really bring much to the table in terms of personality or anything different. Not bad, but far from good.
