It helps people to avoid the fear of the reality of death. The God delusion gives people the peace to live their lives without obsessing about disappearing into the void of death.
What was life like before you were born? Why the answer about death so difficult? Death is no different than not being born. Death is scary so it's easier for people to make up a fantasies about life after death.
WOW! What a great answer.
Why are naturally aborted fetuses not given a church burial?
What happens to animals' souls? They are god's creation. Why so we not recognize them as having souls? Is it arrogance on the part of theologians to assert animals do not have souls? Or do animals really lack souls? Who determined that?
As long as we are talking about animals, what about insects? Why not plants? They are all living things?
I have long believed people believe in a "supreme creator" in order to explain the things we cannot logically explain. Eons ago the Greeks had Gods of Love, of Thunder, of the Sea, etc., etc. But science has explained many of those things.
Believing in a supreme creator often allows us to reject responsibility for our own actions, (eg Islamic extremists murder of non-believers, or the Protestant vs Catholic battles in Ireland), or to rationalize why bad or unfortunate things happen to us. Those who have those beliefs often have much more peaceful lives than those of us who do not accept the notion of a God, or life in the here after.
