This isn't negotiation. It is a swap of one service for another.
Before you can swap service for service both parties have to agree on the value of said service.
Hence the addition of "haggling" to the issue.
I am not going to re-shingle someone's roof for an hour session. Sure, I can install and wire an over the range microwave though.

Some people come here just looking for an argument I guess.

Now you tell me after I messed around with that job for a whole day.
I could have traded you the left over 1/2 full 2 L bottle of Stone Cold I found in the back lane and and taken you over to the Mount Royal for a HJ from Big Bertha.

I think bartering can work when both know each other. If one has a skill or product the other wants, it can work. I've known ladies who use taxi drivers, mechanics, landscapers, carpenters, plumbers and electricians to trade services. They both realize the value of the trade, negotiate the exchange and go from there. However, I've only seen it work, when the lady starts the conversation first. If someone I've never met offered me a barter, I'd would probably rather take the money and hire the service myself.

Thank you Erica and Meaghan for your input.

So if an SP offered her services in exchange for some ink work, would that be a tit for tat deal?

Its not unheard of. I saw a Leolist ad with a younger looking SP who said she would do services for electronics, like an iPhone or laptop, things like that. But its only okay if she wants to trade and asks, I would consider it rude to try and offer services for services.

When I was a practicing visual artist I used to trade my paintings and sculptures for quite a few items, including custom made furniture, landscaping, and getting my car repainted. I doubt I would have ever offered to trade a painting for escort services, back then as I would have the tendency to correlate the number of hours I spent creating the art against an SP's time. I am sure a Service Provider no matter how much she liked my paintings or sculptures could ever value my time as an equal to her time. Even if I were a practicing carpenter, I would just not enter into any deal to trade services.

Two ladies who are duo partners and roomies once expressed desire to have their photos done with my camera for their service. I'm not a pro and I only have a good (ish) camera, and some photo sense maybe, but no other professional materials like spotlight, reflector umbrella, props, etc. But things never materialized as I was in and out of town a lot. Note: it was their idea, not mine.
