Leonard Nimoy, who famously played Dr. Spock, died at home Friday morning in Bel Air... after battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The "Stark Trek" star announced last year that he was battling the disease and atrributed it to years and years of smoking. He had given up the habit 30 years ago.
TMZ broke the story ... Nimoy checked into UCLA Medical Center last week for intense chest pains -- but was eventually released.
Nimoy started playing Mr. Spock in 1966 ... and continued in the role through several movies -- including the most reboot in 2013.
He was 83.

It made him a household name, but I wonder if he ever had regrets taking on the role of Spock....

.....a salute to a human being that was...

I remember watching the original Star Trek on a black and white TV with rabbit ears, that picked up the only 2 TV stations on the air back then. I was convinced the Vulcan mind meld was a real thing.

RIP Mr. Nimoy

One of the more interesting character's on television.

Spock

I shed a tear when he died in the movie.

Spock and of course, seven of nine, the most interesting character' s in movies or television.

'Tis the generation that gave the big kickstart for true women's lib and the everlasting mini-skirt, and..... well, there's just too much to mention, eh?

but...

in spite of sequels and re-boots, and in spite of "vintage clothing" be worn by some young folks these days...
Piece by piece, the 60s culture continues to be slip-sliding away. Spock is sorely missed.

'Spocking' Laurier on $5 bill not illegal, Bank of Canada says

The death of Leonard Nimoy last week inspired people to post photos on social media of marked-up banknotes that show Canada's seventh prime minister transformed to resemble Spock, Nimoy's famous "Star Trek" character.

For years, Canadians have doodled Spock's pointy Vulcan ears, sharp eyebrows and signature bowl haircut on the fiver's image of Laurier, the first francophone PM.

Contrary to popular belief, it's not illegal to deface or even mutilate banknotes, the Bank of Canada said Monday -- although the publication of a banknote's likeness is still prohibited, except under certain conditions.

I'm surprised there aren't professional dollar doodlers creating artwork on our money, since it's not illegal. :)
