All in one computer question

My all in one computer's monitor is going dead and the shop says it will be 400 or so to fix it. So I just went out and got a new one. Were they bullshitting me on the how much the repairs are. They said its much harder to repair all in one computers.
I like all in ones for the looks and good for space.

I would say they are probably correct. I have fixes laptops and towers.
I would never own an all in one. Once they break they become paperweights.
Specially if it's the scree that goes. I would never tell my friends to get an all in one.
The only reason is that the all in one have the touch screen.

Was your a touch screen..??

Yes, mine is a gateway touch screen.
Well this time around I bought an Asus all in one, that company has very good track record for reliability.
I actually never used the touchscreen on my old and current new all in one, its just the better ones with come with it standard.

I just sold that going bad all in one to the repair shop for 60 bucks to get it off my hands.

If your all in one has an HDMI output you could just hook up a new monitor.

I got the same estimate on my laptop screen. $400-$500 to fix it and they needed it for at least two weeks (translate to 6 weeks); that was from Staples and Future Shop. One independent shop told me it was cheaper to buy a new laptop. The only real answer I received was from a guy doing repairs on his own. Said if I bought the screen he'd charge me $20, but he'd need it for a few days.
I did some research and found a replacement at http://www.laptopscreen.com/ that cost me about $80 taxes and shipping incl. Youtube showed me how to replace it, 30 min job. About 10 screws and two plugs. Mine isn't a touch screen, btw.
