I was wondering if anyone has or have used the surface pro 3? Is it powerful enough to run graphic programs? Music software (for creating music)?

I know Microsoft is pushing hard against apple's Mac AirBooks.

You have to remember that Mac's are running on the same hardware as a PC.
The difference is the software. After using both OS side by side Win7 and Lion
I stuck with Win7 on a PC. Way cheaper.

comparing a tablet and a laptop is like comparing a car and a motorcycle.

I wouldn't neccesarily say the surface pro 3 is a "tablet"

I have the first surface pro and a MacBook pro but I seem to use my surface pro more.
Spec wise my MacBook pro trumps the surface pro, but the surface pro interface is pretty simple to use. (This coming from a 24 year old male)

i recently upgrade my older ipad to the new ipad air 2. And I love the speed and light weight of it. I also have a 2 year old mac book pro 15" and I love the laptop too. But I find myself using the ipad way more than the laptop. However, even the best paint apps for the ipad (procreate, sketchbook pro) don't compare to Painter on the PC/Mac. So I was wondering if the Surface Pro 3 would be strong enough to run Painter? Or ProTools for music creation?

Thanks for all the input.

I am replying this on a surface pro 3 with the I5 and 256 gig. I would not call it a powerhouse. Its good for what I do with it but if you are going to run graphic programs I would suggest the surface with the I7 for sure and even then I think it would be iffy. Hard to beat a Mac for graphic work even though I don't have one myself, everyone that I know that does graphic works swears on a Mac book pro. Anyways those are my two cents for what they are worth lol.

Hey, I just realized haven't seen any of the Mac vs Pc commercials anymore lol. Used to always get a giggle out of them lol

As for Animation, music ect, having attended courses at Capilano University, you will not find one MAC in the classrooms. They are to expensive to buy.
It's the program that counts and not the brand. PC's are way cheaper and will equal if not outdo a MAC.

(Offtopic) The majority of MMORPGers use a PC for gameplay. Those that post to youtube use them as well for editing and rendering. The components are just so damn powerful and getting cheaper all the time, so yeah they really do outdo a MAC.

(Ontopic) I have no clue.
