TextMate and TextMatePlus programs...Be Aware!

Hello ladies

Some of you might have heard that a well-known SP (and a personal friend) was assaulted in Nanaimo recently. With HER EXPLICIT PERMISSION, I am posting some information here that may help keep all of us safe.

The lady in question had recently started advising that she was only seeing previous clients as she is transitioning out of the industry and into a fabulous new venture. She had lost her work phone and had transferred most but not all the numbers. A number came up that she didn't think she recognised, but he assured her that some time ago she had seen him at her house. She thought it sounded a little odd, but shook it off. Later, he texted her again to say he really couldn't remember how to get to her in call, or what the exact address was. Again, she thought it was odd, but he DID say it had been some time ago, so she let it go again.

When he turned up on her doorstep, it was not someone she recognized. She was still willing to go through with the appointment but she was on guard. As she shut the door behind him she said words to the effect of 'I think you fooled me into thinking I'd seen you before', at which point he lost his shit, started screaming about racism, and punched her repeatedly in the side of the head before throwing her to the floor and either stomping or kicking her and storming out (THANK FUCKING GOD). She called police right away, and it's being thoroughly dealt with through channels. She is OK physically, and such a strong spirited woman I know she won't be down for long! HERE is what she wants ladies to know, if you don't already. (I ddin't until she told me about it!) When she tried to check on the phone number he texted her from, it turned out to be generated by a program on a PC in an internet cafe. The program is called TextMate, or TextMate Plus, and it allows you to send texts to any cellphone from a PC. She'd like us all to be aware of this, and if you get a text request that makes you uncomfortable, listen to your instincts!

Just a foot note here. This program used in combination with a coffee shop wifi would make tracing difficult. If you immediately call the cell number back, it will tell you something to the effect of, hey buddy, your text mate friend is offline. The difficulty is the cell numbers generated with this program look as normal as other cell numbers. So PLEASE be careful.

Thanks for weighing in on this Mr. Pickle...(lol @Mr Pickle) I know my friend told me that, but she gave me the info over the phone, so I was working from recall when I posted. We do need to be careful; all of us! Pooners and SPs alike; when we are vigilant and alert and community-oriented, we are all safer. When we skulk in the shadows and become afraid to speak out lest we be prosecuted, we create an environment where fear, mistrust and shame rule the day. Good clients will continue to get great service from quality women regardless of the location when we can freely share information like this in places like this!

This is not a money driven individual. She makes a living with a day job. I just wanted to say that not only is she one of the most private and careful ladies I know, I can see why she was only mildly concerned about this guy saying he was lost. I have visited her incalls a few dozen times and still get lost trying to find the rural one. She had to come and find me once so I could follow her back. So I would suspect she wasn't seeing a "red flag".

THanks Pablo's for chiming in: you are correct. She did mention that in our original conversation, telling me her in call was in the middle of bloody nowhere! She told me that nothing about him really set any bells off for her.

Some people may not be aware of this but if you jailbreak an iPhone you can get an app that lets you text or call from anyone's number. It shows up on caller id as any number they punch in. Not a cool way of doing things..

I have one blacklisted client who continues to text and sometimes call on what seems like an unlimited number collection for the past year. Very annoying and so very creepy.

Same here...i just block and list them under "creep series" lol...it sounds more like competition trying to screw with the schedule. Its always the same 1 word questions every time.

FYI all these spoofing programs need to have an origin which is the device you are using. ALL, and I mean ALL, such spoofing apps can be traced to the MAC address of the device. It is not easily done, but it CAN be done. Then a simple query to the ISP or mobile provider and you are discovered. Agreed not the case with all phones because some burner phones require ZERO information to activate and use, but you then could still be tracked by IP Address to where you were sitting should you connect VIA WiFi.
If you are being harassed by someone using a spoofing APP contact VPD or the RCMP. They take these things quite seriously.
