So, Ghoemeshi is into BDSM and the CBC takes exception to this. The CBC? Our beloved CBC? Why might they have done this? Let's see, funding comes from Government of Canada. Right now, Government of Canada is the embodiment of the PC party under leadership of Mr Harper.....Cabinet Ministers like, let's see, Peter McKay play a role.....do you see where I'm going? Same crowd that want to "help the service providers" move from $200-350/hr+ jobs to better jobs such as those in the food industry that pay $11/hr.....PET said, paraphrased, "stay the f___ out of the bedroom government". He had a brain though.....just sayin'

Ok west woody,

Abuse is abuse, no doubt about it… Having a love affair or sexual conduct of a more explicit or aggressive nature and you go back again and again, means you are a willing participant. Not sure what the interviews with the ladies revealed, but with the stakes so high, I would suggest a lie detector test since Jian would have the most to lose and the ladies would have the most to potentially gain for false accusations. The whole thing seems shady to me, like people blaming school shootings of rock or rap music, people are using "s&m play" to convict some guy for sexual misconduct etc… I just don't buy it, and a lie detector should be used for sure!

Yes, Zack, Harper and his tight-ass cronies need a reality check, people do not only have sex using the rhythm method anymore in missionary!!! Mofo's!

Ghoemeshi has shot his wad of information and has hired a top-notch public relations firm. Question becomes one of how do you see Mr Ghoemeshi ????

Is he an innocent kinkster who is being smeared by ... what three women OR is he a 47 year old man abusing twenty something women

As a celebrity he should have fore-seen this problem ...

I think the CBC called it correctly as Mr. Ghoemeshi prospects do not have an up side.

Late comer to this thread, not sure if anyone has mentioned this (what I find to be most interesting indeed - why is he suing if he doesn't have a hope in hell to win the case?).

Jian Ghomeshi’s $50-million lawsuit against the CBC has everything to do with strategy and PR — but nothing to do with legal entitlement.

Quite apart from the fact that his actual damages likely do not exceed 2% of that figure, unionized bargaining-unit employees (as CBC broadcasters are) can’t sue in court for wrongful dismissal. This suit will almost certainly be quickly struck down by the courts without Ghomeshi recovering a penny.

The Vancouver Sun has an answer ( source would be financial post and the same author as the above mentioned article) ...

It's about Ghomeshi being able to say whatever he wants in legal documents with total protection from being sued for libel himself, while intimidating women from going public with allegations of assault at Ghomeshi's hands.

http://www.vancouversun.com/business/real+reasons+Jian+Ghomeshi+suing/10334969/story.html

Latest count is eight women .... CBC Radio has interviews lined up on As It Happens, News at Six, Q ... They are not holding back on the story

Huffington post has some good articles on why women don't report sexual assault ...
That is the Question we should be looking at ...

If you would have even a brief look at the situation it's Ghomeshi who's suing the CBC for $55 million.
The women coming forward don't appear to be asking for anything.

And so far, not a single one of them - including the one who originally went looking for fellow travellers - has gone to the police to file an assault charge...
That's meaningless. The vast majority of sexual assaults are never reported to the police.

Cashng in? Seriously?

Please tell us how these accusers are "cashing in".

How much money are they going to make? Do you really REALLY think if some girl wrote a tell-all book about her date with Ghomeshi she would make money from it? Maybe it would sell fifty copies and she's make a hundred bucks max.

I don't see a big payday for any of these women.

I found this interesting post on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/owenpalletteternal/posts/1491910081073780

For those not on FB, here it is:
I was challenged by a friend to say something about the recent allegations against Jian Ghomeshi.

Jian is my friend. I have appeared twice on Q. But there is no grey area here. Three women have been beaten by Jian Ghomeshi.

I have sat with Jian over drinks and discussed our respective anxiety disorders. We have been photographed hugging on camera.

Just ten days ago, I helped him find musicians for his father’s funeral. Three women have said that Jian beat them without their consent.

“We will never really know what happened.” Yes we do. Jian beat, at the very least, three women. Three women said so. “They were jilted exes.” Maybe so. They were beaten by Jian.
“They were freelance writers looking to get ahead.” Three women were beaten by Jian Ghomeshi.

At no point here will I ever give my friend Jian’s version of the truth more creedence than the version of the truth offered up by three women. Anonymity does not mean these women do not exist.
“They were engaged in BDSM role-play.” This: this is something I need to talk about.

The beauty of BDSM relationships is that the power is always in the hands of the sub. BDSM and choke play is a subversion of male violence.
To hear that anybody has been abusing the BDSM power relationship for the purpose of engaging in non-consensual violence-against-women is horrifying.
That is not the point of BDSM. BDSM is in fact about the exact opposite thing. It is about repurposing acts of violence into creating a power dynamic of fucking EQUALITY.

As for the rest. I have seen my Facebook feed littered with comments about how “for years we’ve known Jian to be a shady character.”

I too have heard endless rumours that he’s been a bad date, and have heard stories of shadiness and strange behaviour.

I have heard about his ridiculous pick-up lines and have (to my shame) tittered about them with my friends. But I have never heard, until today, that Jian Ghomeshi beats women.

I am skeptical of arts reporting. I am skeptical of Canadian journalism. I am sensitive toward shaming of people who are so-called sexual deviants.
But let’s be clear. Whether the court decides that predatory men are punished or exonerated does not silence the voices of the victims. It does not make victims liars.

Whether our culture continues to celebrate the works of predatory men is another issue. It does not silence the voices of the victims.
Jian Ghomeshi is my friend, and Jian Ghomeshi beats women. How our friendship will continue remains to be seen.
