What? They still have like 13M in cap space.
Doesn't mean they have to over pay goalies again. Look what happened with Lou.

I'd rather see them spend some $ and get a top end D man and Power Forward.

Ryan Miller is 23-3-1 and one tie with a 1.95 GAA and .938 SV% all time vs 6 other Pacific Division opponents.

This years UFA crop is piss. Paying 5M for Cammelleri or Hemsky is awful.

I'd like to see the Vancouver sign David Legwand, he's been a Canuck killer over the years. Just as a side note, what's with the Canucks website...nothing on anything...lets not give the fans our take on Millers signing.....
I google Ryan Miller minutes after his signing and Wikipedia has already update their info. "plays for Vancouver Canucks" "signed on July 1"

Yeah I thought about that, but all kinds of people working today.....Pay some young computer geek triple overtime and get it done! Oh, I take it that the Canuck Brass are all working or did they take Canada Day off?

Are you having trouble keeping up with the Canucks trades/signings?.....all the sports channels are having specials.

Obviously you're not getting my point....that being having the Canucks comment on their signing.....give the fans their perspective on Miller.

Thank god the Canucks didn't do what Washington did today by signing Brooks Orpik to a five year deal totaling $27.5 million.

Botchford Gallagher = Media circus clownsin vancouver no one takes them seriously. Just like the ass clown crew on Team 1040.

Didn't matter who we would have signed up front. Guys like Miller don't become available every year. Do you feel confident retooling this team and Eddie Lack playing 60 games of that or a 40/ 40 game split with Lack and Markstrom. Score 5 goals give up 7?

Miller in net means we are not in the Conner McDavid sweepstakes next season
So, what's the reason there were NO other bids for him? (Miller admitted that himself).

When even desperate teams won't bid there has to be a reason.

If he's carrying Kesler-like attitude will it infect the dressing room?

It also puts the $6 million a year in a different light. The new Canucks brain trust aren't capable of bargaining?

I think you're over-rating miller but benning obviously agrees with you.
At his present age I think he's a decent starter, similar to luongo in age and stats.
He's not a difference maker like the top goalies in the league.
I hope he continues to be a good goalie because that will still put us in position to get another high pick in next year's draft.

Benning's made some solid moves but nothing will move us forward further than getting a top 5 pick next yr.
I'm hoping that the sedins and the new coach don't make us much better.
We will definitely me more entertaining tho.

I'd prefer that we play our youth as much as possible and get rid of a couple of our vets like higgins, burrows, richardson, or hansen.
The way they handled kassian last yr was a perfect example of not giving our youth a chance to develop.

My worst nightmare will be if we barely make the playoffs or in the 7 or later range for drafting.
We need to draft a future first line center and a number one d man.

not liking the Miller acquisition but will still pull for him to make some difference.
imo, his best days were in Buffalo, and if he had a team that
was capable of playing in front of him I'm sure he'd still be there.

his playoff performance was forgettable. that Blues team was good enough to beat Chicago.

the D core is my main concern with this team. sorry, but Hamhuis, Tanev and Bieksa aren't going
to take this team to the next level. yes, I know it's rare to get top tier D-man
in this league without spending the big bucks but this unit needs resolving.

guess we'll just have to wait and see come season opener.

I agree but there are not an abundance of primo D Men or Power Forwards lingering on the open market. Getting a huge asset like a Stud D Man will take a huge trade to part with some assets to obtain one. I know if I were an NHL GM, I would build a team around a solid set of D Men like LA has, like Chicago has etc.

Clayton Stoner 4 years 3.25 Million per just signed with the Ducks.
Who the hell is this guy? You ever heard of him.
If you think a top D man was expensive last year think again.

3 years is a Bridge to the emergence of Demko, Honzik, Cannata etc. At least Miller is only 3 years. It would have been different if they signed Miller to 7 years or something stupid like that.
I guess we have to agree to disagree on the miller signing.
I'd rather develop lack and markstrom then have another good draft like we had this yr.
If benning is a great talent evaluator he should be able to get two stars in next yr's draft.
We got a potential cory perry this yr but we still need a future number one center or dman.

Vrbata signed.

I guess they still try to get another forward off one of the teams over the cap
