That was the same thought i had when i saw the promos for it. It is like Chuck after he got he intersect upgrade.

True Detective caught my eye when i heard of the upcoming scene with Alexandra Daddario. Her eyes always captivated me,

her smile didnt hurt either.

Then i saw the screen caps.

So I ended up adding the show to Couch Potato earlier this weekend. :p

didn't watch the show. just the scene. woman has an amazing natural rack. later on even gives a half second labia shot, though she grew her hair out, but you can still briefly see the hanging form. no dumb merkins like spartacus.

Has anybody else been watching Rake on FOX? I wasn't planning on picking up another Thursday night show but everything else that I watch on Thursday nights was preempted by the Olympics and while other channels started running repeats during the Olympics, FOX was willing to put on new programming. So, I've been watching it and it's actually better than I was expecting. Turns out Sam Raimi is involved and even directed the premiere.

Mind Games

Christian Slater and Steve Zahn make me interested in this one. Unfortunately, Christian Slater has not had much luck with the series that he's been involved with so far although I've personally enjoyed every one of them.

Starts Tuesday.

watch the original, from Australia, on Sundance channel, like most of the shows the lazy Americans are just copying, like the British ones, the foreign originals are way better

after watching the original, then seeing the pathetic copy, well it's just sad, like the movies, even with subtitles, lol, yes even with reading they're better, Let Me In, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

I have not seen the original version of Rake. And honestly had never heard of it prior to the FOX series airing. Again, so far, I like the FOX version for what it is. If I get a chance, I might have a look at the original for the sake of comparison. But I do find the other examples you cite interesting as a case study for the point that you're making. I have seen both versions of each of those films. I actually thought the American remake of Let Me In was a stronger all around movie than the original. I thought that sub plot with the infected cats in the original was just so ridiculously silly that it took me right out of what was otherwise a very effectively creepy movie. I thought the tone in the American version was more cohesively maintained through out. As for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, I thought both versions were equally strong. I couldn't say one was better than the other.

Mixology

I had seen some commercials for this that I thought were pretty funny. But then I found this extended promo and the show doesn't seem as strong as I originally thought. I'm now kind of on the fence about it. I may check it out tonight to see if it's any good.

Hannibal

The first season of Hannibal was one of my favourite new shows of last season, so I'm really looking forward to the return of the show this Friday night. I hope they can keep the same incredible, relentlessly tense feeling and grim tone. I was shocked by just how graphic the show was considering it's a network show.

They probably just dub it... like the "American International" version of Mad Max :p (I wasn't able to see that with the original Australian dialogue track unitl the remastered MGM DVD was released -- and then it was weird hearing the original dialogue only because I was so used to the dubbed version  )

Orphan Black Season 2 starts next week (We get it on SPACE here in Canada). I liked the first season. In my opinion, the show works as well as it does primarily on the strength of Tatiana Maslany's work as the various clone characters. Very layered work. There were scenes where she's playing one character pretending to be one of the other clones and the subtleties in her work during those scenes were particularly note worthy. I'm looking forward to the return of the show.

I still haven't had a chance to watch any of the original but did notice that it has recently been added to Netflix, so I may give it a look some time. Ratings for the American FOX version were reportedly quite poor, so it doesn't look like the show will be returning.
