The Government of Canada is seeking the public's input on the criminal law's response to adult prostitution (i.e. the sale and purchase of sexual services from persons 18 years of age or older). This online consultation is open from February 17 to March 17, 2014.

The following link: http://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/cons/curr-cours/proscons-conspros/index.html#2014_02_17 is to the official government page where members of the public can provide input on the following questions:

1. Do you think that purchasing sexual services from an adult should be a criminal offence? Should there be any exceptions? Please explain.

2. Do you think that selling sexual services by an adult should be a criminal offence? Should there be any exceptions? Please explain.

3. If you support allowing the sale or purchase of sexual services, what limitations should there be, if any, on where or how this can be conducted? Please explain.

4. Do you think that it should be a criminal offence for a person to benefit economically from the prostitution of an adult? Should there be any exceptions? Please explain.

5. Are there any other comments you wish to offer to inform the Government's response to the Bedford decision?

6. Are you are writing on behalf of an organization? If so, please identify the organization and your title or role:

While it is debatable as to how much weight this will have in the legislation that the majority conservative government will ultimately put forward, I suspect that not taking the opportunity to voice an opinion (regardless of whether one is in support of decriminalization, legalization, criminalization, or some other option) only ensures that the government has no excuse not to do whatever they feel like doing.

be well,

Chris

I am proud to be a Canadian who answered that consultation form.
Canada was at the forefront of same gender relationship marriages.
We can join tiny New Zealand to further the acceptance of a healthy sex trade in the civilized world.

Survey submitted and made a point of emphasizing the Nordic Model would be a huge step backwards.

And I will shortly add my response to the consultation. In the meantime, I am proud to be a Kiwi from a country that also was first to give women the vote and introduce old age pensions... among any one of a number of other firsts.

The response the government gets to this survey might rather surprise them, both in number of responses and in content. You all might find this interesting. I posted it on another thread about this and am cross-posting it here too:

I thought you people - especially susi - might be interested in reading this linked thread:

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum...y-of-Canadians

For those who don't recognize the name, Canadian Gun Nutz is the largest firearms owners/enthusiasts website in Canada, with over 100,000 members. I believe the vast majority are probably Conservatives - if only because virtually all of the truly nonsensical, expensive, useless and all-around obnoxious 'gun control' legislation put in place in Canada since 1978 has been invented by the Liberal Party.

Generally speaking, however, the membership also tends to be quite politically conservative in a traditional sense - i.e. libertarian. And the comments on this thread largely reflect that: the government should just MYOB, keep its nose out of people's sexual affairs, and just leave things as they are.

So susi, you and your colleagues have more supporters than you might think, and some of them in rather surprising places.

Time to bump this thread. Fill in this survey peeps. Sounds like we can do it multiple times (you know the opposition will).
Every voice is important. We need it to look like the active support is much bigger than the govt. realized.
