I wake as I usually do, a little groggy, sliding from dreams to reality, recalling what plans have
I made for the day, and moderately happy to be alive. A good yawn and stretch of the arms
while I roll out of bed. Pulling back the curtains, I see a glorious sunrise. The warm orange
globe in the sky greets me; a slight smile forms in the corner of my mouth. Off to the bath
room to knock off the three S`s. My rhythm shows great fluidiity, honed through years of
morning ritual. Then back to the bedroom for my workout routine. Knee is a little tender
this morning so I take it easy on myself. The sun is now a bright yellow beacon, inviting
me to enjoy its gracious spendour. I finish with my floor yoga stretches, and lay on my
back. Just lay there. Basking in the energy of the sun. A small wiggle and my naked
body is perfectly positioned to soak up all the rays. At first, a little nude tanning with
slow breathing is all I plan. Then, I stop thinking. I meditate. As usual a sequence
of thoughts gluides through my consciousness. Quickly addressing the must do`s,
I then allow my brain to relax too. More thoughts do come and I just acknowledge
them, and let them pass. Soon, I am deeply relaxed. Smiling, peaceful, the sun
nurtures me, tans me, warms me. Slowly turning onto my stomach, my muscles
relax deeper. My back drinks in the soft gift of solar love. I start to appreciate
this moment. Just this moment. No more thinking. No emotions to address.
I hear a bird chirp. A car ambles by out on the road. The gentle breeze
rustles the few remaining leaves on a nerby cherry tree. In this time,
there is no past, no future. There is just now. A sentiment comes.
I need to do this more often. Stop. Relax. Listen. Appreciate.
It occurs to me that, once again, I have been playing a life
of Ping Pong. Bouncing from working, to play, to all
the other things that we DO with life. I have been
a human DOING. All day and all night long
Yet it is what I choose. I want to live.
And living requires Doing. Today
I spend some time as a human
Being. Resting. Cleansing
Recognizing what is all
around me without
controlling it.
For now
I will
Just
