Me and a few buds sitting around talking about this and we came to consensus.
several of us have coached minor hockey and played, managed teams etc.
We have all had many many run ins with wacko parents from our teams or opposing teams.
We all have been threatened , slandered , and abused by drunk/drugged/fukked up adult parents.
We all think they(police) should go back and question the team and other parents to see if a nut case had issues in previous games.
Then saw she was at the arena and did what he did.
just our thoughts and theory......this is fukkked up !

I don't buy into your theory, but will say that unlike the January 1st murder, this is an absolutely a tragic murder.

why is the january 1st murder not tragic?
The Hockey Mom murder was an innocent person in the wrong place at the wrong time. The January 1st murder is an example of someone who placed herself in danger. The police had multiple dealings with the suspect and victim prior to January 1st. Solving the January 1st. murder doesn't take a rocket scientist. They already know who it is. They just need time to gather the evidence.

The Hockey Mom murderer is still at large and unknown. Catching him is going to take considerable resources and at this moment, the public is at risk. Unlike the January 1st murder, anyone has the potential to be the next victim.

I feel for "real" victims. Not people who place themselves in danger. Someone who is killed because they are hit by a drunk driver is a tragic situation.

Someone who is killed in a car driven by a drunk driver doesn't get my sympathy. They put themselves in danger.

Leah Hadden-Watts is another example of someone who deserves what she got. Doesn't matter if you are male or female. You hang around with gangsters, you have to be prepared for the consequences.

"real" victims? are you freaking kidding me? a 19 yr old plummets to her death and thats not tragic? you dont know the circumstances of her life and why she was there. perhaps she jumped even .all irrelevant though ....so when an SP gets raped, robbed or murdered ,you would not find that tragic or consider her to be a "real" victim? because she puts herself there?

Not to me it isn't. It will all come out and I will be proven right. In with the wrong guy.

I wish you no ill will, but will say that escorting is considered a high risk lifestyle. If you are going to participate, you have to be prepared for the possible consequences of your actions, be they good or bad. There is no return without risk. That's a fact.

so when you het robbed and beaten by a pimp or contract aids ,it wont be tragic? you wont consider yourself a victim? what about the loved ones that are affected ? would your family not also be victims ? should they be blase because you" had it coming", knowing the risks? when a child crosses the road and gets run over, thats not tragic because the kid knew there were cars out there but chose to cross the street anyway? a plane crash? not tragic?

i would think you might not want to mention your perb handle when trying to book a lady for the next little while

I don't think too many people will care what happens to me. You certainly won't from your tone.

If you get hit while using a crosswalk, that's tragic and the police can do something about it. You took efforts to cross in the right place. If you're jaywalking, that's another story. You're on your own there unless the car takes off. Then it's hit and run and the police can do something about that part. You want me to feel sorry for a kid that knew there were cars out there and chose to cross anyway despite what he/she had been taught? Sounds like a stupid kid to me.

Flying isn't dangerous. It's safer than driving. A person who choses to use an airline is not involving himself or herself in a high risk lifestyle.

This thread is about the Surrey Hockey Mom murder, a tragic case of an innocent woman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time who had no affiliation with her killer and no warning that she was going to be entering into a dangerous situation. Her killer is still on the loose and will likely kill another innocent person again. I don't know why that doesn't concern you, but the other murder does.

That ranks amongst the most insensitive statements I have read on this board. Do you get lonely up there on your pedestal?
Tell me what you do to help out society?

I have no time to feel sorry for someone who put themselves in danger. In the past I've helped out "real" victims, like finding a place for kids who have been abandoned by their parents. Kids that are too young to know what's happening. They only know they're going to see their new auntie and uncle. Kids whose grandparents can't take them in because they just can't afford to. Disabled kids who might not make it to adulthood. Kids who haven't eaten in days because their parents have no money. I feel sorry for "real" victims. Even after you've helped them, you walk away with a heavy heart because you know the odds are against them.

first off, i wouldn't consider those children you speak of as "victims" and those scenarios are all copouts! welfare will pay grandparents to raise a child but maybe they arent good enough if they didn't do a proper job with their own children .and children in canada do not ever have to go without food .there are food banks ,soup kitchens, hot lunch programs in schools, etc etc . so you buy a kid some mcdonalds and feel like you are a hero?

Come on now. There are thousands of people that live in Newton that are never murdered. Read up about the victim if you want to know why she was waiting outside.

Only in big cities. Go to a northern town of 750 people. Get back to me on how many have a food bank, soup kitchen, hot lunch program in their school or a McDonalds. I never said I fed the kids and I never said I was a hero.

so you go to small towns to help? and if you not feeding them what do you do for them?

Unfortunately, you can't do much for them. If their parents have abandoned them, you try and find a relative who will take them in. If you can't, you have to call the Ministry and they try and find a foster parent for a little while. Even if it is only a day or two until they can find a longer term set of foster parents.

The disabled kids usually have to be taken out of the town and are put in a facility if no one takes them. They're very depressing places to be, but they're kept clean and fed.

For the hungry kids, you try and knock on their relative's doors or ask their friend's parents to see if they're willing to feed them a meal. Maybe ask the Co op if they could make a small donation. You can only do short term stuff. The parent's should have enough for the basics on welfare, but they usually end up smoking, drinking or gambling the money away.

The odds are against them.

so those families need help you makde it worse by enabling the parents. and how do you find these needy children in small towns ? why is the ministry not involved?

im not real big on believing what is printed in a newspaper or online...its a well known fact that the police quite often feed BS stories to the media for many reasons. its a great way to control the masses . and to catch a killer when he slips up because his story isnt told, etc.

One thing I've learned from participating on online forums is people (myself included) often say/write things without reading up or thouroghly thinking through the implications of their statement. This is what is often helpful in he dialogue that results. Others have reactions and it reminds us of what we missed when we were busy forming our first response. THat being said i've responded before finishing reading this one....
