OK, since we are wafting wantingly about the Bird's Words, Punt offers a duly deserved PERB-style review:

L-9 Language: outstanding vocabulary demonstration with insightful contextual relevance. "brusque"--Pure Brilliance +1. "obsequiousness"--over the top and showing off -2.

A - 9.5 Attitude: Introspective, honest, respectful, modestly cheeky. Tone was beautifully rendered. Well thought out. Would have been a 10, except for the opening when in the presence of an SP who inquires about your ATF, the only correct answer in that situatiuon, white lie or not, is 'you are my new ATF for tonight'. Own it for the moment--she deserves that much.

S - 10. Service to Perbites large and small was fantastic. Elena spotted it well. You made your post an artform. Writing is a craft! Although often overlooked in this mindless blogging/tweeting world, it is what separates prose from posts. By reminding us that thoughtful prose and patience in checking, re-checking, refining, and finally agonizing over the 'send moment' is something we can all learn from, you have served the Perbite society in a meaningful way. (My best posts were the ones I worked the wording over again and again until I would be proud if they were printed on the front page of the Vancouver Sun. My worst were poorly qwertyd in a drunken stupor). You inspire me toward the former. Thankyou for that. Sincerely.

Punt.

I thoroughly enjoyed your review of the OP, Punt. One note about this though:

when in the presence of an SP who inquires about your ATF, the only correct answer in that situatiuon, white lie or not, is 'you are my new ATF for tonight'. Own it for the moment--she deserves that much.
While I like your response very much and wish that I would think of something so perfect were I to be put on the spot like that, I notice that Birdboy worded it like this:

She looked up at me. “So who’s your all time favourite in this town?”
I once had a touring lady put that very question to me, so when I read that in Birdboy's post, perhaps my previous experience put me in that frame of mind. I even half wondered if it might be that very same touring lady posing this question to him. Actually, now that I think about it... I think she asked who my current favourite in town was... In any case, great posts, gents! :)

Thanks so much for penning and posting this, B.B. It makes me reflective; I can relate to it so well….
Please keep writing.
You're welcome, chuckertmg. I'm sure I'll be writing for a long time.

Thanks, MM!

Now that's a first. I've been reviewed by an SP before, but I can't say I've ever had the Diaries reviewed.

...Would have been a 10, except for the opening when in the presence of an SP who inquires about your ATF, the only correct answer in that situatiuon, white lie or not, is 'you are my new ATF for tonight'. Own it for the moment--she deserves that much.
Actually, MM was close to the truth. In the real-life conversation that was the catalyst for this story, the lady asked about my ATF in a town that we both frequently visited but didn't live in. I worded it the way I did so I wouldn't have had to put in all this extraneous detail that would have been quite unnecessary in the story.

My, such effusive praise. Thank you Punt, most sincerely!
