In the definition that matters, which is : "A person who does, or offfers to do, an activity for money, despite personal dislike or dishonor."

:ballchain: Imagine this for 8 hours. Now what if you got 3 weeks paid vacation, full benefits and made 90k net?

In this sense, most people are prostitutes. Anyone sacrificing their life doing something they despise or an activity they like, but with people they despise, is a prostitute. I once worked with people I despised so much I'd wish they would get sick or have an accident so they wouldn't be able to come in to work. I'm not a bad person, but we've all met those coworker types/bosses/underlings that make our lives miserable on a daily basis.

The weird mind games, the alliances made and lost, the ideas stolen and blame shifted...it's crazy...

I haven't wanted to punch one person working as an SP, or daydream about letting the air out of a boss' tires*, or the ever popular fantasy of telling the boss to shove this job up his ass and slapping a few people on the way out the door for good measure.
:high5: (like this, except no smile and on people's faces)

Nope. I get to show kindness and compassion for people who really need and deserve to have some kindness and compassion shown to them. It's a crazy set up we have in our society, where women are told that it's a bad thing for a lady to like sex or to have sex freely. That's the way it is though, and it's created a "market gap" so to speak. Women aren't supposed to feel the same way about sex as men, heaven forbid, women are supposed to be demure and cover herself in shame...top to tail.

Oh, and the Vaginas...oh my god....Vaginas... They hold such mighty power that the mere sight of them will corrupt our youth, cause perfectly normal men to become serial rapists, and many hold the opinion* of the vagina as being "unclean" somehow. Like a big drippy cock is creating less of a mess on the sheets the girls keep making me change for them...but I digress ;)

I think it's behind why a lot of women don't like oral sex. They feel "unclean" and uncomfortable with their vaginas. I think vaginas, in fact the entire female reproductive system, is floral-like in structure...or in case of the cervix, like some sort of elegant pink anemone..

Vaginas are lovely and beautiful and deserve to be respected as such.

The point of this entire is not to extoll the virtue of the vagina,
(shut up Vaggie...) however, it is to explain why I am not a prostitute.

I don't do something I despise, or work with people I despise, for money.....anymore.

Do you?

My GF and partner in crime used to say "I can get fucked for $8.25 an hour or for $250 an hour. I choose the latter."

edit: The last time I had a "boss" I threw a Pepsi in his face. My friends still laugh about it until this day!

In Your Wildest Dreams!
Until 2011, I had a union job, benefits, salary, 'job security' (or so I believed). Then I ran into a bully of a boss that forced me through a performance evaluation process while I was entirely too sick to perform with any kind of efficiency and was refused sick leave by both my employer AND my union.

For a while, I worked in the bullion business, selling gold and silver investment coins and bars as well as collectible coins. It was essentially a feudal enterprise; the owner made millions while we worked for $15/hr no benefits and no commission. The no commission part was especially hard to swallow on days when I booked bullion sales in excess of $100,000...Then a decision was made to promote one of my coworkers to management. Not the guy who'd been there 9 years; not the guy who'd been there 3 years; a guy who'd been there about 5 weeks longer than me yet had learned less about the overall aspects of the bullion & coin business as a whole than I had.

On Valentine's Day, we had a chance to be the first bullion dealership in Vancouver taking pre-orders for a coin that people had been clamouring for to complete their 6-coin sets for months. HE made the decision that, since he didn't know whether we would be stocking any, that we couldn't take down any customer info so that we could have them sold before they even arrived from the Mint (which is fairly standard practice). I remain convinced to THIS DAY that if the idea for the preorders had come from someone with a penis, his decision would have been different, but he insisted that he was NOT going to presell anything without knowing if the boss would order any. I flipped out on him, told him I thought it was the stupidest business decision I'd ever been privy to, and walked off the floor 20 minutes before the store was scheduled to open.

I've been working for myself ever since, and I don't regret it for a minute! I don't miss the 2 hour commute, including the 99 B Line twice a day, or the shitty pay, or the complete lack of respect from everyone else in the department because I was a woman and not a knowledgeable coin nerd....but I bet a lot of their customers still miss ME!! :pound:

If I had the ability to do what you do, it would take me less than a second to make that decision! I truly believe, if done with the professionalism than many ladies do exhibit, there is as much honor in this profession, or more, as there is in any other career !

Sometimes when friends or usually their wives find out I have seen prostitutes. They ask the typical question. "what if it was your daughter"
Now of course I would prefer my daughter to be a doctor or lawyer or actuary. But I would much rather a daughter be an SP, than work for minimum wage at a restaurant her whole life.
Renting a basement suite with a bus pass her entire life, or until a man with money saved her.

I enjoy my job, my boss is just one of the guys, cause we really don't need anything more. I can't imagine having to work for an asshole boss.
I remember once a girl I was dating came home crying. I asked what happened....it turned out her bosses wife and young child were in a car accident.
But they were going to be fine. So I asked why she was crying. She told me its cause her first thought after hearing about the accident, was she hoped they were dead, so the boss would be away from work for a few days.
She hated him and the job that much.

Being a psycho might have something to do with the tears also. Maybe the problem wasn't the boss.

Exactly Vanessa!! I remember going home many nights crying at more than one job I worked at. Usually this is a result of poor human management on the part of the people in charge. People are made bosses and managers because they know the job, nepotism/favoritism, or they bought a business, not because they know how to deal with people. This can result in severe abuses of human dignity out of malice or just simple ignorance.

I have never understood that.

I mean a guy working thirty years at a job and pretty much hating it all.
I see it at my job all the time, and I have to ask why the hell are you there.

I like my job, I could retire but still at it.

I think no matter what you do if you don't like it, and your not working on another option there is something wrong with you.

And who said that was the definition of prostitution money for doing something you don't like,
I always thought in a way we are all whores. selling our self for money.

The last time I had a boss, I worked in the restaurant business. It ended with me going on stress leave for six weeks (because of management being useless with scheduling/seniority issues), and then when he demanded that he (a hotel manager) assess my mental health in order to come back to work, I lost it. I wrote a long message explaining why I wouldn't be coming back and then listed all the things that his employees hated about him and the way things were run, but were too afraid of losing their jobs to vocalize. People still talk about it.

I also hated the restaurant game and ass-kissing of customer service so much that I would contemplate crashing my car or accidentally-on purpose falling down the stairs before work to avoid going.

Anyway, the video above was a game changer. I vowed to never ever ever do a job that I hated, ever again. And I never have :D

You are a prostitute who enjoys what she does and that is what it is. Interesting how you point out that there are way more prostitutes out there then realize it. What is a person who offers money for an activity that will bring dishonor to them?

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
I get invited to a few sessions a year where I have the opportunity to speak to young people about career choices.
The #1 message I try to get across to them is to find something you love to do or would do for free and see if there is a career in or associated with that.
I'm very lucky that I was able to identify early in my life what I loved and have established a career in the field.
For nearly 30 years now I get to wake up every morning and go do something that I love and look forward to.
I'll admit it does help that I own my own business in my chosen profession and I'm not saying I don't have shitty days or moments when I think "Maybe I should sell/retire?" but overall there is still nothing else I'd rather be doing.
This is what you should look for in your job/career whatever it is.

Oliver! I guess it depends on how one thinks of the concept of dishonor. You dishonor me at my place, you leave. I didn't have that option at the "jobs" I worked at. I was a wage slave who plugged in, tuned out and gave my pound of flesh for my daily bread.

Now my "job" is: you perform oral sex on me, I get to tell you how to do it so I can orgasm, and you give me cash and gifts. Yes, I am deeply dishonored
:D
