SP rates are climbing, from my observation thus far, as much as 20% from the beginning of the year.

I've noticed more and more posts where reviewers are adding in that they've tipped their SP.

Many non indy SPs don't keep their tips. In some rare cases they do, but in most the tip is split between the girls working or it's given back to the "house".

Basic economics dictates that the supplier will charge what the market will bear.

Is this industry becoming so much like Las Vegas where you tip someone for just smiling at you? Or maybe we should try to change things like in Australia and other parts of the world where tipping is NOT the norm?

My observation is supply and demand. No matter what one person does, the "market" dictates what the sp can charge. So you have no control my friend.

Yup, I think so. It's like the gas prices here in Vancouver. The most expensive in North America. Yet nobody says a thing.

Also, as another example using Las Vegas and the resort fees. People may not like it, but they continue to pay them. However, we do have control if and when when we tip. I imagine people may not be tipping as much for housekeeping in the hotels.

many agency workers reply on tips for their end of the income. especially in outcall, workers end up after driver fees, booking girl and agency fees with only a fraction of the fee. they up sell for tips so they can make a liveable wage...

i feel it should be clear what is expected up front. mdm. cleo's web site used to say- the fee only covers the time so use your imagination men- if its a surprise extra fee or tip, its bordering dishonest....

Same here. Makes me appreciate it more knowing my client was more than satisfied.

Tipping agency/micro girls is more common as in most cases they only get to keep half the money. Even the agencies that charge in the higher end of rates are giving the girls only half the money as well as getting them to pay for the advertising etc. Tipping is however in my eyes not a norm in Vancouver so don't feel like you HAVE TO tip the girl but a micro girl who charges $120 for 45 mins and you feel her services deserve a better rate I don't think its the worst thing to leave a tip. Even a $20 tip would make her happy or feel more appreciated.

Here's what I see.

Maybe it's one "pimp" or a couple of them, and I am using the term pimp in the 21st century approach (smart, technology/business savvy).
This pimp is the handler for many new up and comers to the escort business and keeps the rate consistent. He attracts many girls because of the massage parlour approach, where the ladies only come in for an appointment and leave with money. The cleaning and back end work is done & arranged by the pimp.

As a result, I believe many of the indy workers who were charging a lesser rate are upping their rates to keep up with the joneses. Then you have the Asian market, they are realizing this as well, that the market is becoming less competitive as it's being controlled by lesser individuals. They up their rates by 20/40, because heck, many guys are still seeing that as a bargain versus upper 250.

This is all hypothetical though, there might not even be a pimp.... I'm just assuming that competition is being reduced as it's in the hands of fewer. And that is allowing them to dictate the prices; however, this pimp also has to also maintain a certain degree of services to maintain the price levels.

Yes, I have seen non-indys split tips. with drivers, other girls and receptionist. if you have a good night everyone has a good night. it is considered a courtesy to split it up in some occasions. depending on who has done what.

Absolutely! But you must admit that, no matter how common it is, seeing an SP, no matter what her donation, is not for people who can't afford it. I'm tired of hearing about the figures men in sports make, but then having to listen to people gripe about the cost of an service provider. If you don't like it, just don't see that SP. Pretty simple.

1. Yes, the negotiators drive everyone crazy and no matter how much or how little you charge they will always be asking for it. Some may say it is part of the job. Deal with it.

2. Yes, I worked for an agency! How do you think I learned the ropes? As I mentioned if you ended up with a tip heavy night it was just a courtesy to "share" not "forced" to give a portion of the tip to Phone girl or driver. Now, IDK what it is like for micros, that is a scene I am not familiar with.

I'm sorry to say but that statement is not always true. I can say that in seeing SPs and buying TVs. I see escorts that charge half or 3/4 the rate a "high end" escort charges and give comparable or better services. Conversely I have seen "high end" escorts that I have wasted my money on as I had received the worst service ever experienced. Like any market there is value for your money. Just like buying the same TV at Walmart for half the price. You just have to look for the sales.

I have never expected a tip and have received many. I think it's sweet, and indicative of the gentleman having an exceptionally good time, which exceeded his expectations! A tip should never be expected, even at Starbucks or a high-end restaurant. All tips should be earned by giving outstanding service, but never expected!
