In Vegas right now. Got back to my room at 2 am put the do not disturb sign out.

7:38 am I am awoken by the maid trying to open the door, she couldn't get in due to the chain and left.
10:00 get a call from the maid wondering a good time to do my room.
I tell her I am sleeping, here alone, have enough towels for my entire visit, and to leave me alone.
11:45 honour bar refill person at the door, I drank a water, he is here to replace it.

Does the do not disturb sign have any meaning?

Yep, it is the house keepers excuse to steal anything in your room regardless if there is a "do not disturb sign" I would never leave anything valuable in my hotel room. Or if there is a hotel safe, use it. I have heard travelers stories about hotels in Vegas as this is a common event.

i bought a travel alarm clock from the spy store...
best thing i,ve done in along time.
i have caught 6 hotel staff going thru my shit and even one able to open and go into the room safe , she was smart and would only pull a few bills....
i would take my laptop down to manager and play it.....a few embarrased staff.
its motion activated and HD with sound....i use it all the time now.

A year ago in Vegas over the Labour Day weekend we partied pretty good til about 6 AM then hit the sack. One of my buddies was robbed while he was passed out. Phone, laptop, cash and wallet all gone. Person who got into his room was caught on CCTV and it was a hotel employee. It's a reminder to put the bolt and hook on your door every time.

Really though, Do you think putting a big sign on the door that says LEAVE ME THE FUK ALONE, put on the bolt, take the phone off the hook.

Great now you guys got me worried about the staff robbing me, not just bothering me.

Tsa wanted me to turn on my laptop, since its a work computer I refused. They all panicked, then let me go.
If this computer is stolen....oh boy would shit hit the fan.

I'm at venetian, but yeah if you pay staff $4hr it doesn't make a difference, in regards to theft.

Have you tried tipping/bribing them in advance?

No, but I always end up with a pocketful of change, and a stack of ones.
I leave it for housekeeping, usually totals 15-20.

I've had sex with the maids here a couple times. Not this trip.
It's $100. Not bad at all for Vegas.

I can't be the only one? Once it was with a maid who entered the room while I was naked watching porn on tv.
And you can't turn the channel or turn the tv off, cause you still get charged.
Her reaction made it pretty obvious I wasn't out of line asking if she wanted to stay and watch.

The other time i just asked, she said no, but hooked me up with another girl, like 3 minutes later.
It must be common place.
