WTF is with pranks or practical jokes? Why the popularity?

Usually they are stupid, sometimes they are dangerous. Almost never funny.

Fucking Ashton Kutcher (WTF is with him, too? Worst actor ever and is he really supposed to be good looking?) took his stupid show, and because they were pranking celebs it was supposed to be funny, but was just meh 9 times out of 10.

I see pranks on the web and they are always a fucking waste of time.

Just more of the trend to humiliate or embarrass people?

Was just reading another forum, mechanically oriented, about workshop pranks.

Apparently this one fellow was quite fond of jelly donuts, and always had a couple in his luchbox.

Some other character started getting into his lunch on a regular basis, and half-eating the donuts, then putting them back.

This started to really bother worker#1, plus he couldn't figure out who was half-eating his jelly donuts. So, he emptied out a donut, filled it with axle grease, and placed it in his lunch.

Soon he (and the whole shop) knew who the sneak thief was. Dude #2 apparently put on quite a show after biting into the greased donut!

I dunno. I'm not a TV watcher but somehow I picked up on this show a few years ago. I really do get a chuckle out of some of these episodes, particularly from the reactions of the guests, when they see that they've been 'pranked'!

When I lived in Calgary I had a friend from the UK that I would hang out with, mostly drinking large quantities of beer together.

We were both single at the time and would check out each other's apartments when the other was away.

One time I came back from a 3 week trip and hopped in the shower. The bastard had filled the shower head with Cherry Lifesavers! Took me hours to get the stickiness out of the bathtub and I needed two more showers to feel un sticky.

So when he went back to the UK to visit his family I had my chance at some revenge. I knew he would be drinking as many cans of beer that the flight attendants would supply him with and he would arrive home with a full bladder. I unscrewed the lights in his bathroom and put saran wrap over the toilet. I left a note in his kitchen welcoming him home and to enjoy cleaning his bathroom

No doubt. This is so funny and I think most of it is filmed in French, so it is just something to watch (I suggest with a beer, etc)

The cherry lifesaver idea is brilliant. I don't agree with publicly humiliating people. But between friends it can be pretty funny. I was once pantsed on the golf course. Sorry, I don't even think that's a word. But, my pants were pulled down as I was teeing off. It was pretty hilarious.

hah hah... 'pantsed' is exactly the correct term
