They don't actually cook the food at the English Bay location- the restaurant is too small. Cactus Club has a good formula going right now. Someone spent a bit of money developing the brand and it's paying off...snip
That is so interesting...so they cook it another location and then truck it over every day? How ingenious!

I think only the small plates/tapas are prepped on location. If you order an actual meal, they call it in to another downtown location and it's delivered...like take out

I have had some great meals there and would bet big time they were NOT microwaved. So where is the food actually coming from if not cooked on the premises?

Stepho's is perfect for take out...their savoury souvlaki will taste just like it came off the grill even if you get it take out and have a long car ride home.

The best restaurants I've been to are:

Thai: Maenam, Urban Thai Bistro
Vietnamese: Phnom Phenh - outstanding chicken wings and for people a little more adventurous they use the same seasoning for their frogs legs
Malaysian: Banana Leaf, Bo Laksa King
Steaks: Gothams, The Keg
Tapas: Bin 941, Sardine Can
Boneta, Secret Location, L'Abattoir, Meat & Bread,
Sushi: Blue Water Cafe, Hapa Izakaya (Robson location), Guu, Bistro Sakana, Miku
Mexican: Salsa & Agave, La Casita
Pizza: Nicili Antica Pizzeria
Chinese: Golden Harbour Seafood, Kirin, Sun Sui Wah, Peaceful

There's just too many restaurants to name.

Gaymen to this, I am forced to eat out WAY too much. Cooking is my hobby and I love it and I'm fairly spoiled. I actually bring my Henkel butcher knife with a sharpener and my hand blender when I tour because the condos I stay at don't have good knives and besides when you pay $200 for a knife you really want to use it!
Let's just say the towns I visit leave much to be desired. You and I have very similar taste in food. I avoid most chain restaurants like the plague. Further reinforcing my belief that chain restaurants suck was the fact that Samantha Sparkle and I have been exploring Regina and have hit a couple chains we've never been to (Red Lobster and Ricky's) and been sorely disappointed EVERY time. Then we hit a tiny Afghan buffet across the street from our hotel, it had maybe 10 seats and the buffet was tiny but man-o-man was that food ever freaking amazing. AH-MAH-ZING.
Honestly my fave breaky place in van right now is The Red Wagon (Hastings/Nanimo), try their croque madame. It'll blow your mind.
Yeah, I've heard about The Red Wagon. I'll have to try that. Thanks

Red Lobster used to be good about 15 to 20 years ago lol Ricky's YUCK! I've got my mini food chopper, blender, knives and other cutlery to take with me on my tour, just waiting to be tossed in one of my two suitcases for the big road trip starting sunday or monday.

the Stepho's shiller returns
Did you
"smell the divine lamb roasting or the fresh pita that only taste and deliciousness can fill the air in its unity" --aw
Don't have to shill for them, it is just the truth. Look at the line up that they have there every night.
