I do not know if this question is relevant because I do not remember seeing a Taco Bell in Vancouver.

But the principle is still the same:

Three hungry customers pulled into the Kentwood, Michigan Taco Bell drive-thru expecting meals, so they were surprised when they found thousands of dollars in cash in their bag instead of food. As reported by WZZM 13 On Your Side, Kennidi Rue, Luke Postma and Grant Kruse didn’t even realize the fast food restaurant’s mistake until they had driven miles away. Kennidi said, “I opened my bag to get my food and it ended up being three bags of money, a lot of money, and then another wad of like a ton of 20s. We added it up and it was like…” “It was like $3600,” the men added. The trio had a decision to make: return the money or keep the cash. The friends admitted that there was a brief moment where they were tempted. “Of course, initially you want to keep it,” Kennidi conceded. “But then you’re like, ‘No someone’s going to lose their job. Let’s bring this back,’” said Luke. Grant added, “It obviously wasn’t ours. It’s not like we were losing anything by giving it back. So we just thought we’d bring it back and I don’t know, just do it the right way I guess.” Luke explained what happened when they returned the money. “We went in and the lady, we met her, and she had just a stone cold look on her face. And we brought it in and she just started like, on the spot, just like losing it. She was crying. She was I guess, pretty happy.” The three customers were also happy. They said the best part of their good deed, was that they finally got their food from Taco Bell.

Bring it back, it's not like $3600.00 is a huge amount of money, but someone at the restaurant would lose their job over that.

There are NO Taco Bells in Vancouver, but FIVE in Surrey..... so if you're in Surrey, it's probably not just the moral thing but also "good for your continued life" thing to do. LOL

Bring it back. Some minimum wage person would have lost their job over it.

Video cameras would have got them anyway.

Bringing it back is the right thing to do. Also the smart thing - they have cameras on basically every drive thru and get licence plates in many locations. The cops would have tracked them down eventually.
Totally, exactly what I thought when I read it. Lol

I'm not so sure. Just because you were at a Taco Bell and bought some food doesn't mean you were the one who got the cash. If the police show up at your door just extoll the virtues of their bean burritos and wish them a pleasant evening. Are they going to search your house without a warrant? Nope. By the time they get one you could be in a casino someplace doubling your 'found' money (or losing it all). That being said: I was fortunate enough to encounter a LARGE (and I do mean L A R G E) sum of cash and returned it post haste to the owner. Just the right thing to do. You never know how it will affect you in the future and it has actually helped me immensely in my business.
