27-Year-Old Lawyer Who Admitted To Prostitution Faces Disciplinary Board

An attorney who last year plead guilty to prostitution charges is now accused of lying to a state disciplinary board about her work as a call girl. The complaint filed and made public last week against Reema Bajaj, 27, by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission contains the first detailed account of what led to criminal charges being filed against her in DeKalb County in 2011 -- including that she allegedly had sex in exchange for supplies for her law office.

The Illinois ARDC is seeking sanctions against Bajaj for allegedly lying in her sworn statements and not disclosing on her bar application that she was working as a prostitute.

Guess it is true that you get screwed by lawyers.

Even funnier is how many prostitutes are law students or want to become lawyers or maybe it is just the girls I see. I know of three off the top of my head and they are all CBC's. Weird coincidence?

Sadly not uncommon. I want to draw a distinction between Canada and the US here (as we all know the laws are dramatically different, and hopefully mostly decriminalized for many of us in a few months) but I'm sure a lawyer here would face the same kind of scorn if s/he had a past in the sex industry.

A true shame, because nothing has taught me critical thinking and organization like this work!

HUH?!?!? They are calling THAT prostitution!?!?. Someone is really out to get her or she did not suc the right d!ck. That poor young lady.

I thought it was gonna be another Ashley Dupree type of story, the woman at the center of the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal!! Not EVEN close!!!

prostitution is not illegal but there are many aspect which are criminalized in canada, thus why we are fighting for "decriminalization".

the court (SCOC) will hear the case on june 13th and the by-law revisions to create a more open industry here and to "counter exploitation" will be heard sometime this month i beleive as well. that is the work of the city task force that i am part of and is almost complete.

north vancouver and burnaby are not part of those revisions however and are RCMP controled i believe. we were hoping for a provincial police force so we could balance the approach to sex work down the lower mainland and across bc.

the missing women's commission recommendations called for such a strategy and i was to sit on an advisory to the minister of justice overseeing the implementation of the recommendations but that is on hold now after steven lapoint resigned and a law suit was filed by the children of the missing women.

the fact that implementation is on hold is a stall tactic in my opinion and has nothing to do with the suit filed by the children of that monster's victim's. i also think its dispicable that they are blaming the suit as the reason for the stall. as my mom said, if not this reason, they would have found another reason to do nothing....

we are holding a rally on saturday starting at 2:30 pm at the art gallery downtown and ending at PIVOT for a book launch and film screening.

Ahhhh... yeah, I do!!!! This is what I am saying. Someone really had it out for her for it to reach this level. I am sure there were other girls in her class doing the same thing! Well, maybe not just office supplies though...I sure hope anyway!!!!

tim i would say no that won't change, border services in canada are trained from the all sex work is exploitation perspective and by no means will the decision mean that border guards will majically be open and supportive.

i have trained members of canada border services but alot of work needs to be done.

they cannot be arrested if we achieve decrim which is what would happen if you told american border guards you were going to purchase sex in seattle for example. it is illegal in the US and admitting to the offense is enough to get you arrested for sure.

sorry, i thought you genuinely wanted to know, i see now you were being a sarcastic. lol i am always ready to talk about the work we are doing but you are right, its alot more than decrim that needs to happen.
