Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
I'm not a big Tv viewer, mostly sports but I've had a fair bit of down time lately so I've been channel surfing.
I cannot believe the crap they put on TV now but that I've become a fan of Pawn Stars.
Firstly I find it interesting what people will walk in with and secondly what they walk out with.
I especially get a kick out of the people who come in with an item and even when one of the "experts" tells them it is worth $5000.00, still end up selling it for $2500.00.
Sure the pawn shop owner isn't going to pay you full value for it but for $2500.00 maybe you should take it home and see if you can sell it on Kijiji before you give it away. I could see someone who needed money right now doing this but in many cases these are items people have had for years and have never been in a big rush to sell.

Woops, gotta go and get me a beer and a bag of Doritos. Pawn Stars is on.:thumb:

I agree. I don't get it when they bring in something like a rare coin, that's graded and in the grading companies official holder. Then they sell it for half what even ebay would get them......maybe to be on tv?

Weird timing for this thread, as I am literally going to that pawn shop in about an hour.

While I have seen a number of episodes, I think its over exposed and it takes up valuable space on the History Channel. IMHO I would prefer to see more documentary type shows than Pawn Stars, American or Canadian Pickers etc etc.

A lot of these "reality shows" are staged and scripted despite being called reality...

Actually, I went to see the Pawn Shop in Vegas a couple of years ago. It's in a pretty crappy neighbourhood off the strip and I didn't see any of the characters from the TV show. Took a quick five minute walk through the store and then went back to the strip.

All I can say is that good TV programming died when Sienfeld ended.I have never watched "Pawn Stars" and I never will, nor will I watch any of the other brainless mind-numbing crapulence that is called "reality TV".

As for pawn shops in general I gave up on them a long time ago.Not that I used them to pawn stuff but as a buyer seeking bargains.Such a joke that is to say the least.Vastly over priced junk for the most part and it is there because of the financially inept people in society....the types who not only live paycheck to paycheck but have to resort to hitting the pawn shop so they can cover the rent because the splurged on something they could not afford.

Storage wars is more of a compilation of their interest finds over years, crammed into one show.
In reality 95% of the lockers are full of junk.

But what I don't get is why the storage centre owners don't prescreen?
If I ran one of these places and had say 10 lockers to auction off.
Night before I swing by Walmart, buy 10 various padlocks, cut all the locks off.
Do a quick search in each one for anything worth taking.
Put the new locks on, ready for the next days auctions.

Mostly because its against the law in the US. Also the owners know that there aren't any valuables in the lockers just clothes pee stained matresses and broken Walmart futons
On Pawn Stars most of the items belong to the experts that are appraising them and they get people off the street to pose as the owners trying to sell the item

sienfeld suuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
So Seinfeld sucks according to your opinion even though it was one of the most highly successful comedy series ever and it still earns Jerry Seinfeld millions a year through syndication.

Don't even get me started on the stupid zombie craze. Hate zombies, so stupid.

Dance Moms, Toddlers and Tiaras (abbreviated to T&T by myself and my friends) as well as 16 and Pregnant or Teen Mom, now THAT is some quality programming!
And these garbage programs you consider to be superior to Seinfeld.

Like I said earlier in this thread good TV died when Seinfeld ended and the crapulence we have now is stuff people such as you consider entertainment...tis no wonder I have a huge movie collection.
