Starting to get really ticked off. Telus has been sporadically blocking this site. It's only works about 5% of the time I try accessing. Who do they think they are playing God telling me what sites I can visit?

One of these days, I'm gonna learn what that means...
snip...tether to my cell.
It means accessing the internet through your smartphones data plan. If you have certain androids you can set it up as a wi-fi hotspot as well. One of these days, I'm gonna learn what that means...![]()
So this doesn't work with an iPhone? It means accessing the internet through your smartphones data plan. If you have certain androids you can set it up as a wi-fi hotspot as well.

So what you're saying is, if I'm in an area where I'd prefer not to piggyback someone's unsecure internet connection, I can arrange to use my iPhone internet as my internet for the lap top? And I set this up through Rogers, in advance?http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3574
it should work with all modern smartphones
the term tethering refers to communicating between two devices, traditionally via a hard wire connection of some sort, hence the term tethering
once wireless technology became widespread, it became possible to do away with the tether, and communicate between the two devices via wi-fi. that type of tethering is now called a wi-fi hotspot
restaurants, coffee shops, airports etc. have a wi-fi hotspot device through which you can access the internet via your laptop, tablet or handheld. modern smartphones can be set up to act as a wi-fi hotspot so you can access the internet on your tablet or laptop through them
look in 'settings' on your smartphone
