Once a year I like to reward myself with an extended overseas trip…to places where the cost of a tryst ranges from about $20—$80.

I’d like to share my travel plans with friends and acquaintances. But I find, there’s still too much prejudice surrounding “sex tourism.” I don’t even fit the common definition of a “sex tourist”—if that term means “someone who travels for the primary purpose of seeking out sex workers in foreign countries.”

The bulk of my overseas trip is actually taken up exploring the sights or just finding my way around and locating decent places to eat and sleep. I also like to reach out to the local people, study their culture and language, read travel guides and write a diary.

Play-for-pay is just the cherry on the cake. Once I realized my only way to maintain a healthy sex life is through pooning, the idea of combining vacation travel with this hobby just came natural.

I prefer a term used by Club Hombre: “travelling hobbyist.” I think anyone who’s proud to be pooner should be equally proud to be a travelling hobbyist. If one approves of sex work—as any sane person should—it makes no sense at all to condemn people who avail themselves of commercial erotic opportunities with consenting adults in foreign lands.

I’m sure most travelling hobbyists—who don’t involve minors, abuse providers or practice unsafe sex—do a lot more good than harm.

The stigma attached to “sex tourists” probably stems, in large part, from confusing them with “child-sex tourists” (which is just like condemning men in general because some men are murderers or rapists). The majority of travelling hobbyists are not pedophiles, just as the majority of homosexuals are not pedophiles.

The deeper motive for condemning mainstream sex tourism is, of course, envy and resentment on the part of many who can’t partake in this bonanza of pleasure. This includes men locked into more or less monogamous marriages whose exit cost would be ruinous—and, predictably, many women in Western countries who find their erotic bargaining power somewhat eroded by foreign competition.

But for those involved, sex tourism is mostly win-win: the local SPs get welcome and often desperately needed cash, while a travelling hobbyist enjoys abundant erotic play with nubile beauties who would be totally out his league in his home country.

So what's stopping you from joining in the fun? Here's a sampling of websites that provide info for the travelling hobbyist (though some require memberships):

another side of this is to take an SP with you. Assures you dates, company, a good friend, and don't have to look nor take chances. Just need one with the economical approach to dating like this.

This whole concept rubs me the wrong way.
I don't know what it's really like but my gut feeling that they're being exploited due to economic hardship. Desperation leads people down paths that they wouldn't normally go down.
It rubs me the wrong way too, but for a different exploitive reason. I liken it to when colonialists treated themselves to the natives of Africa or Asia or North America because their currency/wealth/assets made them all-powerful. The women already face economic asymmetry in their own nations, why face further humiliation from a foreigner? Exploitation is repulsive. The Canadian government, in treaties with other western nations, take a very dim view of sex tourism in Asia and 3rd world countries. In a complete reversal of the traditions of law, a Canadian can be prosecuted in Canada on his activities in foreign soil, which is outside of Canadian jurisdiction.

I'd say in Thailand, like in Canada, many working girls are in the business due to the very high earnings potential. IOW they like money, and lots of it. In both countries there are plenty of other job opportunities, but why give it up for free & labour long hours at a minimum wage job, when they can get paid a doctor's salary for 3 minutes a day of laying on their back, and often have fun while they're at it? It's a no brainer.

"Thailand's Sex Workers Don't Want To Be 'Rescued' "

"...Most people remain unaware of the dramatic new context in the flesh trade, Empower director Chantawipa Apisuk said at the recent release of a report, "Hit & Run: Sex Workers' Research on Anti-trafficking in Thailand".

" "We have now reached a point in history where there are more women in the Thai sex industry being abused by anti-trafficking practices than there are women exploited by traffickers," she said."

Living vicariously through myself
My thoughts on this subject are that just like here at home, there are women in this industry for a variety of reasons. The first type would be the women who really love sex and enjoy the job and the economic freedom it can bring which, btw, are the only kind I am comfortable with, while the second type do it willingly but out of economic necessity and then there are the third kind who are unfortunate ones that are manipulated, coerced or forced into the business which I do find repulsive and don't want any part of.There probably are other reasons, and different combinations of the above categories, but those sound like the three main reasons.
That said,I'd imagine there would be a lot more of the second and probably the third category of women overseas which I would think most first world pooners like myself would try to avoid.
If I can find information on where or how to hook up with the first type of woman who loves sex and all that goes with it and can combine that with travelling somewhere new and interesting,I'm all for it.

Tant,I find your reviews very entertaining and well written even though I'm in Victoria and not inclined to head over to Vancouver to poon.
I'm quite interested in travelling to South America and the women there are often very attractive so maybe Argentina or Columbia would fit the bill. Are any of those sites you listed better for information for those areas?

And how do these guys differentiate the ones who choose to do it over another career and the ones who come to the industry under duress? They honestly can't.
The same thing can be said about Canadian SP's.

In Canada how is a client going to be 100% sure any SP isn't being pimped out or supporting an addiction or other bad habit or have other factors that coerce her into the business.

How would a client know if the SP had an abusive upbringing & works as an SP because she feels she deserves it.

Or how would a client know if she has no abilities to do anything else but a minimum wage job, if even that.

In most cases he can't know in Canada, either.

And some make the most of what they have and mantain control. In many Latin and Arabic countries, many people aren't exactly pressing to hire females in a shitty economy. So women take control of their bodies and avoid being sex slaves. Of course, there are still many sex slaves there and they are usually Russian. I'd avoid that.
In Thailand also one might want to avoid the mafia connected "Russian" sex workers:

http://www.weeklyblitz.net/333/east-european-pros-flocking-in-thailand

"So poor are the wages in these former Soviet Republics, that even professionals such as doctors, business women and scientists have been known to enter the sex trade, especially in the aforementioned countries...The number of sex workers in Eastern European and Central Asian countries has risen dramatically in recent history. This is due to social, economic and political changes that led many to turn to sex work as a means of income."

Of course poverty can be a reason to support SP's, rather than being (as some contend here) a rationale not to.

Sex trade involving underage women and women procured or forced is absolutely disgusting. I travel to Thailand and other parts of Austrialasia and have not, would not ever even consider pooning there. Same goes for Africa.
Same goes for Canada; underage sex work and pimping happens here too.

http://www.kelowna.com/2010/02/18/underage-sex-trade/

The choice to abstain from pooning in any country that has illegal underage sex workers
or pimps would mean that you can't see prostitutes of any age, anywhere on earth.

So the fact that the immoral or illegal happens overseas is a poor argument against partaking
over there in what Canadian law considers legal.

In Thailand, BTW, it's the law that people have to carry ID on them at all times, indicating
their birth gender, photo, DOB, etc. This provides a degree of protection against taking a
ladyboy or underage sex worker there.

You could make an effort to contact independent escorts in various countries to avoid those working under duress, or in less than ideal conditions. Some of those setups are operated by people who are very agressive in getting women to work for them. The conditions of the rooms are also fairly obvious when the ladies are told to make the client happy or else.

I think it would take a very drunk or someone who is willfully ignorant to accept the working conditions of many of these 'cooperative' sps in other countries.

There are independent options almost everywhere, imo someone who goes from here to those countries is choosing a more exploitive option, not just taking the only options available. Even indy sps in Thailand or Indonesia only charge 100 or so per hour, or less.

A few ideas to enjoy overseas pooning more

I have been to Pattaya, Bangkok, Songkla, Myannmar, Loas and everywhere in between and to see these girls (and let's face it they are girls) hanging off of 60-65 year old foreign nationals is a very upsetting. Everyone should be aware that when you travel there, and have sex with these girls, our laws here apply. These countries are becoming more and more concerned with their global image and have started prosecuting people who commit crimes against children or help support human trafficking, especially foreigners.

I have no issues with hobbying in a foreign country with a women, I am only saying that we should avoid places known for their forced sex trade. For the record, I have no illusions about Canada when it comes to forced prostitution but, if a girl looks too young, she probably is and probably needs your help. The police should have an outlet for pooners to report these types of situations and not get questioned about why you were there in the first place - that is another discussion though.
Hey brother,

Absolutely agree about the need to keep child-sex tourism off limits legally. Let's not dilute the issue of travelling hobbyism by dragging in the red herring of "crimes against children" over and over again.

I've made no secret of the fact that I personally find more mature SPs sexier—partly because they tend to be more skilful and partly because they're often more capable of becoming aroused and enjoying sex.

I’ve had many of my life’s best times on overseas pooning trips. A few rules I observe, which some brothers might find helpful:

1. Take it slow in the beginning, hold a warm smile, make an effort to communicate. Always treat the overseas SP as the wonderful human being she probably is.

2. Don't rush the foreplay. If you can warm her up to the point of even slight arousal, the difference this makes to the quality of the session could be enormous.

3. Never underestimate the motivational effect of a 20% advance tip, on top of the required donation. This immediately makes an SP see you as a generous man with resources who stands out from the crowd—someone she'd like to impress so you'll see her again.

4. If there's an option to book shorter or longer times, book the shortest possible time (e.g. 20 min) but keep your watch handy and then extend for another 20 min before your time is up. Extending will be felt by your SP as a pleasant surprise and is far more motivational than booking a longer time from the start—because now she's already comfortable with you, as an exceptionally nice man. And, in case she's a real dud, you minimize your loss.

5. The best would be to bring an SP back to your hotel. But if that's not feasible, expect the hygienic conditions in her place to be suboptimal. Try to arrive clean, and bring your own bed sheet (I use a highly compressible silk blanket), condoms, lube, face towel, as well as Polysporin ointment to put on your cock after the action.

6. Be scrupulous about safer sex. It would be best to swear off BBBJs, but I know that's damn hard for some of us. I use judgment with DATY, but a full bush is usually a sufficient disincentive.

7. Gifts of stockings or eye shadow—or even a razor plus shave cream—are gratefully accepted by most overseas SPs; and, for me at least, these things can greatly enhance the erotic appeal of a lady. They often also make her feel sexier.

8. Even if the SP is unreasonably restrictive and unenthusiastic, never lose your temper but always remain smiley, respectful and affectionate. If an SP projects negativity, it's never about you but always about what's going on in her own life—so never take any disappointment personally.

9. Write off the occasional ripoff as part of the learning process. This hobby isn't about hitting the jackpot every time but about making the most of even non-ideal situations. Stay with the process, and most encounters will be delightful.

10. Feel morally proud to be a travelling hobbyist. You're helping to redistribute resources to the needy, and at the same time you're enhancing your own health and happiness through erotic stimulation and satisfaction. You're a force for good in the world!

Melody, I am not singling you out but quoting you because your opinion is very similar to the other naysayers in this thread.

Reflect for a moment about developed countries such as Canada, USA et al that have young women who do not have the business savvy to become Independents or to work for an agency or a spa etc. They may be from a small town in Alberta and their only skill is their reasonably good looks and a desire to make some money in Vancouver. Minimum wage at a Starbucks won't pay the rent nor put enough food on the table. Low and behold they meet a 'pimp' or a 'handler' who does all the in call rentals, websites, replies to all the emails, sets their schedules and acts as their 'security'. The 'handlers' cut of the action is $X% and a free one per week etc. Sound Familiar? These women apparently all had the same desperation that you find appalling in undeveloped countries. We all know this is not uncommon.

There is exploitation everywhere whether in developed or undeveloped countries.

I enjoy a good cigar and had a conversation with a pooner when he returned from Cuba. While in Cuba, tipping the concierge enabled him to have a companion for the whole week. He had her as a companion at his room whenever he wanted and they did some social time on tours etc.

Sure the price was very small compared to what a Vancouver SP would earn if she went on a week long trip with one of us. Point is my cigar smoking friend paid the concierge X$ but he also tipped the SP a fairly significant sum. She was so happy with this generous Canadian Tourist because his tip was worth a lot more than what the average Cuban earns in a few months.

If you are going to to do it,I would suggest only in a country where prostitution is legal. If it is illegal, like the US, organized crime and or pimps are likely to be running the ladies, especially those on the street. My greatest

I am sure Dickson feels pretty exploited when he flys an escort in from half way around the world, takes her on a shopping spree before having sex for an hour or so and $5000 later he still doesn't feel seduced.

As I said, I don't really know what it's like, but from what I've read and the general impression I get those are my feelings. When I go to south east Asia, if I see for myself that it's different than what I suspect it is, then I'll feel otherwise. But my suspicion is that a lot of those women would be doing other jobs if they were able to get the education they want.

And my point was that these western guys are capitalizing on the fact that these women are broke, to me that's exploitation.
I would say there is more survival prostitution here at home than in Thailand.

The story there, girl works at bar for a few weeks doing short time (2hr sessions) or Long Time (overnight) and then finds some lovestruck tourist to put a ring on her finger, or 'sponsor' her, so she doesn't have to work anymore. Sometimes she can juggle three or four 'exclusive' sponsors.

She tells her friends about how she's clearing hundreds of dollars a month for doing nothing, and voila, there are 10 girls heading down to take her place.

There are some wonderful people in the business there. I took this gogo dancer long-time for three days. I bombed around the area on the back of her moped, she found us fantastic food and clubs, we enjoyed the hotel pool during the day, and she charged me about $250 for three incredible days. We both had wet eyes when it was over, and we are still in touch with each other today.

She Skypes me from work on her iPhone 4s (they are not destitute). "Nobody in bar, I'm bored". After work if she doesn't get a LT, her and her dancing buddies go to one of the big club to dance away. They may find a paying date there, they may not, but they have fun regardless.

Because of the time difference, I'm at work when she's clubbing, and she knows it. "I'm dancing, you at work, haha"

Why does it exist? Two reasons. Poverty and status of women. A woman with a university education often can't make enough to raise a family, while men can make twice as much. The options are get married, or start a business. Prostitution requires no startup costs, and can grow a bank account rapidly. And many of them do marry foreigners, with varying success rates, and do start up businesses with their earnings. I don't feel guilty at all, and can't wait to return.

The definition of "sex tourism" on wicked-pedia, one of my favorite websites, is pretty much the same as yours, sir tant:

"Sex tourism is travel to engage in sexual activity with prostitutes. The World Tourism Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations, defines sex tourism as "trips organized from within the tourism sector, or from outside this sector but using its structures and networks, with the primary purpose of effecting a commercial sexual relationship by the tourist with residents at the destination".[1]"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_tourism

Further re the definition above, from the same wicked source, this caught my eye:

"Sex tourism includes domestic sex tourism, which is travel within the same country, or international sex tourism, which involves travel across national borders. It is a multibillion dollar industry that supports an international workforce estimated to number in the millions.[2] Sex tourism benefits not only the sex industry but also the airline, taxi, restaurant and hotel industries.[3]"

So a person living in Vancouver & travelling to Montreal, for example, could also be a "sex tourist". He might also kinda feel, due to the differences in lingui, that he is in another country. Maybe France, for an example? From what i've read, BTW, this town is very GFE friendy and significantly more economical for pooning.

There have been a few PERBs who have "sex touristed" from Vancouver to Quebec, or other locations within Canada. As well as some Yanks here who spoke about the events or possibilities of trucking up to Canucksville. Not really "pooning...in developing countries", but still being "travelling hobbyists" nonetheless.

We don't live in a perfect world Melody. I think as long as the girls don't mind doing it, it really isn't a big deal...

Also, many girls advertising locally need money one way or another...many have some type of economic hardship or drug addiction.

I actually have pity for people working at Walmart making min wage...

The women in Thailand are definately more relaxed and really know how to enjoy themselves. Meanwhile, many Vancouver type women are dull and self absorbed...

Thanks for the lively input

"Sex tourism is travel to engage in sexual activity with prostitutes. Looking at the poll results at the start of this thread, I'm pleasantly surprised: only 20% of 30 respondents declare themselves opposed to sex travel in developing countries—while 80% support the idea to some degree.

But even most opponents of sex travel on this Board have been rather restrained in their comments—hopefully because they realize, there's potential for both good and harm in sex travel.

Do I mind people who choose to limit their sex lives to their immediate geographic environment? Absolutely not—different strokes for different folks! Let individuals the world over organize their sex lives any way they prefer, as long as they only involve cooperative adults.

Do I care that erotic stay-at-homes often feel morally superior to those of us who travel far in search of sexual adventure? Not at all—but I pity them for their deluded moral perceptions.

The International Sex Guide has a handy label for people who are against the concept of healthy men engaging in sex with willing female partners: “anti-sex perverts.” http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/custompages.php?pageid=custompages_abbreviations

As I’m about to fling myself into another trip, I find myself motivated to look up relevant websites. The following struck me as a nice summary of sex-travel hotspots—and of some concerns raised by this multi-billion $ industry:

17 February 2012
Top Sex Tourism Destinations
Trey Archer http://xtremetravelstories.com/component/k2/item/362-top-sex-tourism-destinations

Many people travel the world for bird watching, sight seeing, sports and other activities. However, in the past decade or so, the number of travelers going abroad for sex has drastically increased.

With sex tourism booming, many countries are quickly finding themselves in the middle of it all as the most popular "sexpat" destinations on the planet. Although actual statistics are hard to come by, here is a list of the perceived most popular destination for sex tourists:

•In Asia, Thailand, the Philippines and Cambodia tend to see the most sexpats in the region, but others like Indonesia and Vietnam are on the rise. SE Asia has always been a popular tourist destination, meaning local prostitutes are merely filling up the supply from the great demand.

•In the Western Hemisphere, Latin America dominates the sexpat scene. Places like Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic top out as some of the world's most visited sex tourism destinations. These countries are experiencing a sex boom due to a greater influx of Americans and Canadians traveling south for "vacation."

•Kenya is the number one hot-spot in Africa, but also perhaps the most dangerous one listed here since it has been greatly impacted by the HIV epidemic. About 1.5 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya, but sex tourism is still surprisingly increasing.

•Europe also has several sex tourism centers, the main one being the Netherlands since prostitution is legal and controlled by the government. Neighboring European nations looked at the Dutch model and followed suit. Now many places in the EU, especially the Czech Republic and Germany, have legalized prostitution in Red Light Districts and/or have lightened up on the crackdown of prostitution.

Of course the argument over sex tourism varies greatly. Many prostitutes, especially in developing nations, see it as a job and the only way to make a living. In fact, some have even gone on record that they enjoy their jobs. National governments in favor also point out that prostitution is the world's oldest profession and can inject billions of dollars per year into the economy. They say that if it is controlled and taxed, money can be generated and measures can be issued to control the spread of STDs and HIV (as is the case in the Netherlands).

On the other hand, some view it as immoral since it can shatter family values, increase the number of sexually transmitted diseases, increase illegal and dangerous narcotic use and lead to an array of other problems like organized crime syndicates controlling the business (all which are happening in Thailand). Others against the issue declare that tolerated sex tourism also gives rise to forced prostitution, human trafficking and child prostitution.

So whether you're a sexpat or not, here are the facts. What do you think about sex tourism and the legalization of prostitution?

I don't know if this is a valid story in regards to the topic of the thread...

I was in Thailand, Chiang Mai, and there was a fantastic local girl who ran a bar out of a Volkswagon bus on the side of the road. She played great music and made wicked drinks. There were three or four stools set up at the side of the bus where she had a proper bar set up of which I spent every evening drinking and tipping her generously. We high fived every afternoon I showed up and she let me make playlists on her computer. She looked like a Japanese surfer chick. Almost blond hair, sleeve tattoos, and built like an athlete.

One night after she'd closed up the bus we moved on together to a local bar that had live music. By the time the bar closed we were right buzzed, and getting pretty tight. Kissing, hugging... I think she even bit me a couple times.

We went back to the shack I was staying in and it was ON! We fucked and laughed for hours. She had an apple bottom. Perfect little thing. Red lips. Long curly hair. So frickin cute man. She smelled like coconut nectar (No really, she put that shit in most of her drinks). I remember giggling about the fact that the condom I was wearing was as thick as a steel belted radial tire and I couldn't feel a damn thing, but I didn't care. I couldn't believe what I was looking at. Stunning.

She left the shack around 4 am and came back with a bunch of take out food. We ate pad thai and soup and chicken skewers and watched MTV til 6 am. I woke up around 10 and she was all dressed and ready to leave and says to me, "You give me money?" with a cute smile. This surprised me.

"Uh, what for?" I stammered.

"Taxi, food... sunglasses?" she replied.

"Uh, how much?"

"400?" she said shyly.

400 baht was about $20 Us at that time. I gave my head a shake and gave her a thousand and asked her if we could do it again that night. She high fived me and said something about meeting her at her bus. I went back to the spot that afternoon but the bus didn't show. Some locals told me she was in another town for a family issue. Never saw her again. A chunk of my heart's still there on the side of that road...
