What's the average income working at the bay?

Don't have a clue but that seems pretty damn high to me. I'm almost afraid to ask what he does in the changing rooms. 
I worked in retail in the early 2000s. At the first store I worked in (selling ladies accessories), my wage was $8/hr, then I was promoted and my wage increased to $9/hr. The manager only got $10/hr.
Then I worked at another store (ladies clothing), and I think I started at $9.35. This was back when the minimum wage was $8, so I felt pretty lucky. The manager was getting something like $15/hr.
My guess is that anyone working a standard position in retail (not management) is making between $10-15/hr.

If you are working in a trade I would suggest staying there because retail will only get lower cost IMHO. With Target and all the other low end stores coming to Canada the Canadian retailers will have to reduce costs to stay competitive.
If you want to get into well paid sales get your construction trade ticket and then work for a supplier/distributor to the construction industry. You will probably need some additional sales/marketing training too.
Yes having a trade does pay a lot better .. or working in heavy industry .. But here on the west coast wages have actually come down ,, Carpenters were getting $28 to $30 an hr 6yrs ago and now they want to pay $25 and less. and run the crew. With every thing up 20% we are going backwards You have to go up north or Alberta to make better ..

I live and work in Alberta....am in the trucking industry.
I can tell you that that is one industry (trucking) that is always looking for employees. The pay is good and depending on the company, you can be home every night or away from home.
There are both men and women driving so it's not one occupation that judges you on your gender, but rather on your ability to do the job. Mostly you are your own boss and if you don't mind being outside, you aren't tied down to a desk.
Just one area to consider.
