When it come down to Marvel comics and there characters they all very cerebral , with doubts and fears .. The story line here is very good .. but to much for me .. seeing Spider man act just like a saw the old comics was tuff and real.

The actor was good and then a gain over acted ,I would say doing a James Dean impression . I kind of for got that Peter Parker was only in high school when he became Spider-man.

A good story and good acting by every one..

I just saw it in regular

I am getting tiered of them reinventing the franchise every 10 yrs . weather it be Batman or Spide-Man and now Total Rekall. Of course they come out better. Go figure.

Yeah I saw it too.....similiar thoughts, why did they go back to square 1? Emma Stone could have been hotter......Overall, I enjoyed the Avengers much more.

Sure, Spiderman 3 sucked, but this series did NOT need a reboot - I don't care to see it, probably never will....

Columbia has to keep making them, reboots or not, or the rights to the character revert to Marvel. This is what will keep us from ever getting Spidey or Wolverine in an Avengers movie.

Exactly....Spider-Man 4 was hitting snags and constant delays, so in order to get something out quickly (and keep their rights to Spider-Man), they decided it would be easier (and cheaper) to reboot the entire thing. I'm against the whole reboot of the franchise, but you can see Columbia did it...for the money.

Ah I knew about them keeping their rights, but didn't know there was a 4 in the works. Reboots are alright if the franchise has been dormant for awhile (batman, star trek). Really a group of actors/director/producers should only make 2 or 3 movies before handing it over to a new group. Besides there are only so many storylines that are worth making anyways.

Tobey Maguire quits Spider-Man 4... after new script sends Peter Parker back to high school

Tobey Maguire has sensationally quit the film role that made him famous, after the film company wanted to send the super-hero back to school.

Maguire, 34, who became famous for his breakthrough role in comic book film Spider-Man decided to hang up his webbed suit, weeks before filming on a fourth instalment of the super-hero franchise was due to start.

Sony Pictures and Marvel plan to take the billion dollar franchise in a new direction which will see the new movie focus on Peter Parker in high school, dealing with human issues as well as super-human predicaments.

And clearly Maguire who is married with two children, Ruby, three, and Otis, eight months, to jewellery designer Jennifer Meyer, may have thought playing a high school student at his age was no longer plausible.

SPIDER-MAN 3 (2007) TOBEY MAGUIRE & KIRSTEN DUNST,

It's over: Tobey Maguire has bowed out of the fourth instalment in the Spider-Man franchise after the script called for Peter Parker to return to high school

The news comes in the wake of what appears to be a creative dispute on a grand scale.

Neither the actor, 34, nor Sam Raimi, the director behind all three of the Spider-Man films will now be involved in the fourth instalment, along with actress Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary Jane Watson, love interest of the crime fighter’s alter ego, Peter Parker.

Director Raimi was apparently unwilling to accept both the script, and financial conditions imposed by Sony executives.

The script had been subject to a number of rewrites in the past year to come up with a screenplay he found acceptable, with a fourth effort in the works.

Tobey Maguire stars as Spider Man in the title role along with co-star Kirsten Dunst in the 2002 film Spider-Man

And Raimi was reportedly arguing for a $300 million [£188m] budget to realise the film's sets and battle scenes. But Sony would only let him have $230m.

A plan to hire Anne Hathaway to play one of the female leads fell through during financial negotiations.

But on the weekend Raimi, Maguire and Dunst all decided to quit the film.

Raimi said in a statement released by Sony: 'While we were looking forward to doing a fourth one together, the studio and Marvel have a unique opportunity to take the franchise in a new direction, and I know they will do a terrific job.'

While Maguire said: 'I am so proud of what we accomplished with the Spider-Man franchise over the last decade.

'Beyond the films themselves I have formed some deep and lasting friendships. I am excited to see the next chapter unfold in this incredible story.'

Raimi said his work on the previous Spider-Man films was the experience of a lifetime, but acknowledged the studio was heading in a 'new direction'.

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios said they will delay a fourth film by one year and return in 2012 with a new story, new director and new cast.

The "new chapter" will tell of a high-school-age Peter Parker, the alter ego for comic book crime fighter Spider-Man who had been played by Tobey Maguire,

The previous trio of movies, starting with 2002's Spider-Man have raked in roughly $2.5 billion at the box office and yielded tens of millions more in profits from product licensing, toy sales and other merchandise revenues.

In the first movies, Parker had already graduated from high school, so the fourth film will essentially be a reworking of the franchise. Maguire is now 34 years old and a father

I walked out half way. It felt like a TV show more than a movie, and was chock full of juvenile situations and humour. When I wasn't annoyed, I was so bored I nearly fell asleep. In the end, saving an hour of my time to go home and surf the net was more fun and time better spent.

Tobey Maguire quits Spider-Man 4... after new script sends Peter Parker back to high school
From a marketing perspective, it was a good move on Sony's part in rebooting the franchise and using a script to bring back Peter Parker back to High School in order to capture the much coveted Twilight demographic. As of this coming weekend, the movie will probably be in the $ 600 Million mark worldwide which is welcome news for the studio that spent $ 230 Million to make it and roughly about $ 100 - $ 150 Million to promote it. Good summer for Sony with 2 cash cows in MIB3 and now Spiderman.

I wish Disney would help Marvel front the money and buy back its rights from Columbia.. Although Columbia probably would never give it up..

Hopefully they do the Gwen Stacey arc right in the next one.

Again, whether you forgot they're too tired or everyone is Spider-man.

I love Emma but I am so not in love with the blonde hair. Natural or not she looks best as a dark red head (Zombieland).

Also the fact that she is dating Jean Ralphio doesn't help...

Maybe once the Gwen Stacy plot line plays itself out they can recast her as Mary Jane Watson (Like Meg Ryan is Joe Versus the Volcano)...
