I probably should know this, but don`t. My question has to do with cookies. Are they visible to a 3rd party web-site?

The basis of my question is I`m looking for work, and I`m concerned that a companies web-page could make an inquiry of the cookies on my computer. Is this possible?

Can they get a cookie listing? Or wild-card it like `%porn%`?
Can they inquire about a specific cookie? ie. Does this pervert subscribe to https://perb.cc?

What are best practices for managing this? If I block cookies, I guess that means I have to login every time.

Finally, I`m curious about other "safe-browsing" practices. I believe that companies track what page you come from. Does that mean that if I`m on perb, then decide to apply for a job (weird, I know), does the 2nd web-page know that I came from perb? What about if I open a new window?

Please, only asking for expert opinions, or those that have researched this topic.

Thanks!

Probably not visible, but why not clear your cookies on a regular basis, anyway?

Inbetween your Mom's legs...
If a company advertises on site X, then the company can track how many times you have visited site X.

The ad would set a cookie (3rd party) and that's how it's done.

Sites by themselves can not, go through your cookie directory and see where you have been.

Who wants to work for a company that is not perb friendly anyhow :p (I'm replying from work) hahaha...the best job would be one that would let you poon and submit it as a business expense. :)

After you get the job, do not surf for porn on work computers unless you work for the government because their union is bad ass, or if you run the I.T department or if it's your own company..

Simply clearing cookies, and cache or surfing in incognito mode won't save you @ work.

I.T can if they want see where all computers in the network are going.

1. If you pissed off a manager, the manager can make a request and just monitor you just to try to find dirt.
2. Streaming video is bad, it raises flags that a lot of data is going to a particular IP on the internal network and they may look into it.

Thanks all for the info and/or bj joke :p

Maybe I'm just paranoid. Lately it seems like there is reason to be paranoid. I don't surf porn at work, never have, except one time by accident. I was taking a computer class, sitting up front, somebody at lunch mentioned a Prince Albert, so at a boring point in the class, I googled the term. First item I clicked on puts a giant penis picture on my monitor.

I suppose another potential privacy exposure is wi-fi hotspots. Maybe I'll take a look at that Iron Key. Thanks V.
