I have a new truck , that is Flex fuel rated that means the V8 will run on alcohol ..... 80% per volume .

With gas at $1.39 and up , how much is a liter of alcohol /methanol?

Should we start up the still in the backyard and get a load of corn or potatos and start making our own ? :):D

Last time I bought bulk methanol it was $6400 US for 12.8 metric tons. (just over 16000 litres)

However, good luck getting around BC's assinine taxes

So methanol is 40 cents a liter 1/3 the cost of gas at the pump
Did the price you payed include shipping .

Is there some higher rate of tax on that, then the 12% I know if you said it was to be used as a fuel in cars then yes there would be road tax..

Flex fuel = ethanol, not methanol....
It may be cheaper than gasoline, but also returns less power per litre as well=less mpg

Yes i know it means ethanol which is gas and alcohol mix up to %80 alcohol to "%20 gas .. I figured mix my own

Ethanol is made from play s like ,,corn , wheat , potato , sugar beats , fruits and vegetable garbage , what even will ferment .,Methanol is wood alcohol ,and is what they use in commercial . applications and is poison . They also us it as fuel in engines Methanol does not make as much power as ethyl alcohol. I am not sure which one they use in alcohol fuel dragsters.

This is the new generation of engines designed to run on ethanol.. and they say the motor have more power and run cooler ..

Was looking on line and there is a business out there to make and sell stiles

Sort of, that rate was FOB Kitimat. You would have to pay for shipping to your location.
You could also likely find something more convenient locally for such small volumes.

I'm really wondering what you'd need that much methanol for...I'm assuming for work but it doesn't seem to fit.
I don’t personally use methanol all that much. The lab uses it as a solvent, and operations occasionally uses it as antifreeze.

How it has evolved that I’m the one who ends up making such purchases is kind of complicated. If you really want to know I could PM you. I’m bored and chatty, but I shouldn’t really go into stuff too much on here. :p
