I am a rebel no more, my old Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was starting to go with bad wi fi and lots of web page crashes. So I went to another Android tablet, chose the Asus TF300 Transformer. I used it for 3 days thinking its got a quad core chip and good reviews but one things that damm dim screen is not livable. So I exchanged it for the new IPAD, man is that thing a beauty. Nice to look at the best cpu screen ever created. So Hunka stop being a rebel and join the apple clan. You know you need a iphone!

I have been in IT for over 20 years and have always been an AVID PC, last spring I bought a Mac Mini, LOVED IT!, I know have a MAC PRO, MAC MINI, MACBOOK, IPAD, and IPHONE

I run a few windows Servers at home and they are now virtualized using VMWARE Fusion on the MAC PRO, I have Windows 7 VM's running on both my MAC BOOK and MAC PRO, the best of both worlds, I'll never go back!

My next laptop will be a Macbook Air. I administer Windows all day at work and I'm tired of dealing with it at home too. I'm not even sure if I'll need a laptop to be honest since my iPad does almost everything I need a home computer to do anyways.

If you want a power computer at reasonable cost you pretty much have to have a windows machine. Getting overpriced Apple hardware to run windows in emulation seems pretty stupid to me, but if that floats people's boats, more power to them. Most people who buy Apple products do so for the status, not because it is the best solution for them. Their computer products get a piggy back ride from the success on the iPhone IMO, and in time the old equilibrium will re-establish itself. That is not necessarily a bad thing, because the Apple exclusive/controlling attitude to their systems is ultimately not good for the consumer in the long run.

On the screen thing, keep in mind that a higher resolution screen means more processing power for graphics is required, and in the case of Apple that isn't keeping pace. Fine if you are using it to run basic applications, but not for anything more intensive. Also, because a lot of stuff is designed for lower resolution screens, most content is not going to look much better on such a screen, and much will look worse. It is allways better to have a screen resolution at or close to the resolution of the content you are using, otherwise things will be out of proportion.

On the tablet side of things I think once windows 8 comes out and Intel based machines built around it start appearing, Apple will start to have real competition in that area. Android does well on phones but it is weak in tablets.

Btw, did anyone notice that the new MacBooks have screens that look just like the ones on Dell's XPS 14z from last year? I think LG has that screen on one of their laptop models too. So much for original design.

I just had to reply, on my Mac Pro i run three Windows servers, a Windows 7, and a Windows 8, and of course my MAC OS, it's about power, to get the power of my mac pro in a windows computer would cost the same. Windows does not manage the resources as well, does not act as a HOST OS well for VM's.... I could go on, I have been a windows guy for years, prior to the MAC PRO I managed 5 Windows machines at home, three of them servers, now they are all on one, conserving way less energy and costing me way less to run

The comment about graphics and processing power is correct except for that the MAC OS optimizes it's graphics much differently and a whole hell of a lot better than Windows does, I can play Crisis in full screen, on my windows 7 VM and get better resolution and frame rates than my kids do on their high powered windows gaming PC's.

The new Macbook pro with it's retina display is miles above anybody else and nobody can touch it, so I am not sure how you comapre it to DELL's XPS 14z, ...

I was a staunch windows guy, and I still love it, but I have seen the light and there is no way I could do what I am doing at home on a windows machine, it's just not possible.

Ciao

On a 14 inch screen I dont want it to be mega high rez, because if it is half the graphics would be the size of an ant.

I have a Dell XPS 14z, I love it. At the time I bought it I looked at other machines. The benchmarks at the time showed the equivalent MacBook Pro as having roughly the same performance. The main difference was that the Dell cost a hell of a lot less than the Mac.

I love the Apple product too since I own iPhone, iPad, Mac desktop and laptop, and iPod. Unfortunately, I still have to own a DELL computer for my work.

The Apple iOS user experience is one to reckon with. There is nothing like it, especially on mobile devices. However, Apple's vision is to convince people that this and that is what they need or don't need ie shaping our thinking process. They will not go with what is trending. The iPhone 5 (to be released in October) is a strong case in point. Apple refuses to incorporate a substantially larger screen then what they have now. They've used the same screen size for the last 5 generations despite the competition doing their best to enrich and improve the user's web experience by providing 5 inches and larger screens. A 4 inch screen (from 3.5) imo is hardly an improvement. People need and want to be able to see more on their device. Apple just doesnt get it. And why shouldn't they? Because they'll tell you that the iPhone is a first a phone (hardly) and a mobile device second. If you need a larger screen, get an iPad ;) In Canada, Siri is an epic fail. It hardly serves any purpose and does not offer points of interests like in the USA. Still, the simplicty, silkiness, and stability of iOS cannot be beat despite what any Fandroid will tell you.
