The sport is still not as entertaining as the early and mid 90s. Players have gotten bigger and faster but man do I ever wish i could go back in time and relive the glory years of the NHL.

+1 on what Karl Blues wrote. interesting juxtaposition between the wto leagues on the same day. I would bet that any team a) running a bounty scheme in the NFL and b) any team considering lying to NFL investigators. thinks looong and hard, after this past wednesday. The NHL could eliminate ( or at least seriously slow down) the kind of head shots that claim its stars if it really wanted to. And the example is there before them.

If the injured player sustains an injury during rehab, so what? The suspension is still in effect until the injured player returns to play.

You think head shots and intent to injure cheap shots are entertaining?
Why should the suspended player pay for the second unrelated injury?

I didn't say it was entertaining, I said your ideas sounds good in theory but it's impractical in reality, read much?

The best way to minimize this stuff is to make the TEAM pay. Perhaps they should have to forfeit some points in the standings to the other team.

A suspension of a few games for a rich player doesn't really accomplish much. But, if the team loses its playoff standings/position, there would be a lot of peer pressure on the perpetrator.

I remember when in school in one of my classes if one guy started being late or disruptive, the whole class had to stay extra time. That put a stop to the behaviour. Rather juvenile, yes, but so is the behaviour in most NHL rinks.

Maybe because the player who caused the original injury is also indirectly responsible for an injury if it happened trying to recover from the injury he caused?

Kind of like a driver of a getaway vehicle is also culpable if the bank robber shoots someone in the bank.

Try not be an ass and keep the discussion without insults.

Your analogy does not apply to your example. The getaway driver is a third party but what we have been discussing only involves two parties.

You accused me of finding head shots and intent to injure cheap shots entertaining, so hello there Pot...

The Canucks can't say shit about this kind of stuff with the high hits that Rome, Edler and Lappiere were throwing last night, Kobasew also threw a questionable hit on the Avs, side, too. This high hit trend is kind of scary. When I played, I was taught shoulder to shoulder, the head was off limits.

I personally think that this may not have occured at all if Daniel had gotten a penalty for his hit on Keith earlier. That too was a head shot, albeit not nearly as severe.

I think when there was was no penalty that Keith decided to deal with it in his own way. Not condoning his action and I think the suspensions about right, but perhaps this all could have been avoided had the ref called this game better.

Early and mid-90's was the rap era, which helped mediocre teams like New Jersey, the Hurricanes win Stanley Cups, along with the clutch and grab, hooking plays that slowed the game down, made it so players couldn't even skate with the puck thru centre without being interferred with....hence the rule changes, obstruction penatlies started being called, freed up the ice so the trap wasn;t so effective anymore...made it faster, less whistles and games weren't 3 hour affairs anymore. Much better, faster hockey now then in the 90's for sure....including the dead puck era

You whining Vancouver bitches are choosing to ignore that Daniella only got the elbow in retaliation . You want to blame somebody for the sister to be out blame her. And you wonder why the rest of the NHL hates you so much.

Obviously your comprehension skills are sorely lacking, because I pretty said the same thing.

I wouldn't call the Devils "mediocre" at all... their play might have been dull as dogshit to watch, but they were an effective defensive team. 3 Cup wins says a lot...
