2012 AVN Awards in Vegas

I was contemplating attending this event in January and was wondering whether any fellow PERB members were planning on doing the same? It would be fun to go down with a few people and take part in the pre and post parties.

The actual award show takes place on January 21st at the Hard Rock joint. Msg me if interested.

Every year I usually go to the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas and they have some sort of Porn convention which coincides with the CES. After leaving the Porn convention you almost feel like going back to your room for a shower.

The AVN has surely come a long way from its bingo parlor days in the 80's. Besides being well-attended, its also very much sought after by luxury gaming properties as it attracts high-rollers from around the world. Gaming revenues in the Strip are normally high during AVN weekends and its not a coincidence. That's why Las Vegas Sands ( Venetian and Sands Convention Centre ) always hosted it in the past. However, with all the cash LVS is making in Macau and lately Singapore - they don't really care about gaming revenues in Sin City these days as they make more margin-wise with non-gaming revenues like accommodations, shows, shopping, restaurants, etc.

Hard Rock is the perfect FUN place to have the AVN. Where did those pool parties start anyways??

They do have one of Charlie Sheen's girls, Bree Olson, co-hosting it this year. Do have FUN attending the US$ 12 Billion Porn Industry's Superbowl in 2012. :thumb:

That porn convention is the "Internext" convention - its the internet porn convention.
I've been and its really fun, but if you do go, try to get yourself invited to the after-parties. I went and it blew my mind, and I thought I'd seen it all. No holds barred orgies anything goes, with porn stars and just us regular guys.
Also the night clubs are packed with people from the adult industry, so there's pretty much full on sex in the areas off the dance floor, and on the dance floor people are getting down and dirty already. Vegas lights right up during that convention. Girls wearing very short skirts no panties, see through clothes, everywhere. Wanna-be porn star girls fly in from all over the States to attend too. You should see what they're willing to do there.

CES is NOT a good time to go to Vegas, unless you are ok with spending a lot more money. That week, along with New Year's Eve and Superbowl are about the most expensive times in terms of hotels. Going during AVN would be interesting, especially when you consider that many of those porn star's also escort, albeit in the 1000-3000/hr range!

I go only for the CES show and I can write it off as it relates to what I do for a living. I would never fly to Vegas just for a porn convention.

Back in the day however we did get invited to the AVN awards which were held at Bally's I think. I wasn't even 18 at the time and I had never seen anything like this before. I got to meet and take pictures with Nikki Dial, Raquel Darrian,Christy Canyon and many others. Christy was very sweet and down to earth. Nikki and Raquel not so much.

Because Americans alone spend US$ 12 Billion on porn annually. They rent a minimum of 800 Million DVD's yearly. Cable, satellite, and hotel porn are BIG business. Almost 50% of hotel guests watch porn. Marriot doesn't support gaming but it has porn. Btw, publicly-listed Liberty Media controls a big chunk of the latter for those interested investors. Revenue-wise I'd say almost half a Billion bucks from the 3 outlets. That's why they still make more than 10,000 new titles in San Fernando Valley yearly. Plus, there's still print circulation, Playboy still has a readership of 1.5 Million, more with Lindsay Lohan's issue. :nod:

Wow, just checked into mandalay bay, its fricking cold as vancouver. My floor has some cute latin maids, wish i spoke spanish.
$50 a night, includes daily lunch or breakfast buffet. Great deals this time of year.

Always out of bellingham. I just bought oneway. some buddies are coming thursday night. Havent decided when i want to go home. $61 plus tax, plus i paid extra for the exit row legroom...$98 total. I even walked from the airport to mandalaybay.
About 40 minutes. January has some super cheap flights.

When the M Resort, which is about 15 minutes out of the Strip, opened in March 2009 it quickly became my favorite. It was a $ 1 Billion hidden jewel created by Anthony Marnell during the recession. The Marnell's constructed the Wynn, Bellagio, and RIO to name a few. They were like the LEDCOR of Vegas. The wife was a former beauty queen so she made sure the staff most especially the servers were very attractive. Unfortunately, there was no critical mass so they lost the business and Penn Gaming took over the debt papers a year ago. Similar to Deutsche Bank taking over the new Cosmopolitan Tower. Too bad I loved staying there. It was such a peaceful hideaway in Sin City. :nod:

The buffet at M is amazing, booze is included. Yeah 20 minutes south but still on the strip....i stayed at south point last time and recommend it as well, nice new rooms and cheap. breakfast and lunch buffet $6-$8 dinner like $12. plus a 16 theatre movie theatre. Boxing convention at mandalay, i played poker against hitman hearns......he sucks.
