I have only come across Racism from my own kind. Chinese gals who worship White guys/Culture that they literally ooze hate/disdain towards Asian males. Had this happen a few times at work, just trying to be co worker friendly and cant even get one " how are you" going. I know I know you want to leave our race, FINE, but dont hate me cause I'm Asian just like You.

These stupid girls have a hate-on for their own culture, and themselves. Why is that? They all say the same stupid thing -- "I just have more in common with / attracted to white guys", or, "I'm not like the rest of them (I'm unique), and I feel more white inside than I do asian".

The fact of the matter is that they are not unique. It's very common to aspire to be accepted by the broader culture around you, because being a minority sucks. It's very common to think the grass is greener on the other lawn. It's very common to think that white means priviledge, and non-white means shit - after all, all the glamorous actors, musicians, fashion icons, political figures - they're all white. It's thus very common to have a hate-on for your own culture. They hate themselves, they hate their own skin, they hate their own parents, their brothers, their sisters. People like the ones you are talking about are not unique at all, they are just sheep - and sheep who don't think very deeply at that. Their's is a reaction, and how sad that they would plan their lives based on a reaction. Unfortunately you work with a bunch of shallow people. Reverse discrimination is as bad if not worse than regular discrimination in many ways.

Every culture is great and has a lot to offer. People should take stock in and pride of their own culture. It's great to be white, it's great to be asian, it's great to be east indian, it's great to be black, it's great to be arab, persian, jew, native, etc.

They shouldn't listen to idiots like Russel Peters, who in the name of "racial tolerance", makes fun of everyone's culture including his own. Yeah you can get a laugh out of it like laughing at shit being thrown from the toilet to the ceiling, but it's not meant to be funny.

Can't you read? I said, "Most comedians don't use race as their main hook." Since comedians chew up material at a frantic pace and rely on every subject pretty much every comedian has probably touched on race now and then, but most don't RELY on racial humour. Guys like Russell peter base their entire acts on race. That is rare except for ethnic comedians.

Would you call me a racist? I think of myself more of a (culturist?). I get pissed off when people from other cultures move to Canada but still act like they are in their country of origin. For example, people from China (where such a huge population requires them to be very agressive and self-centred to get anywhere) and they are pushy and inconsiderate to the extreme. However, I have a Chinese doctor. She came to Canada as a young child and seems to have Canadian values (and she is the best doctor I've ever had). Men from many countries, where women are considered and treated like inferior beings, come to Canada and treat women like shit.

factor in dating/marrying white guys is....they wouldn't have
to deal with a Chinese mother-in-law

I'd agree with ur statement....about 20 yrs ago.

Maybe you see a lot of blacks on MTV, etc. But they stand out to you because you're not black, probably white. The majority of actors, fashion icons, musicians and politicians are still white. The majority of the affluent are white. The majority of those with status are white. We have a black prez now. One black prez out of 44 presidents.

If you belong to the majority group (ie: white), you probably amplify what is non-white. That's just a tendency in human nature. Since being white is the default, things non-white stands out... and if you have prejudice, then that which stands out takes a negative filter: a few blacks seems like a lot of blacks, Richmond's overrun by asians means the lower mainland overrun by asians, one bad chinese driver means 20 bad chinese drivers. I'm not saying this applies to you, but what you said implies what I'm stating here.

I think you're more intelligent than to make assumptions like that.

as for majority/minority topics...let's not forget greater Vancouver
is now multi-ethnic...who is the majority or minority depends a lot
on where you are,i.e.Richmond,Surrey would be a contrast.

An elementary-teacher friend of mine had her class do a homework asst.
in the mid-90's....she knew they'd be watching tv so had them chart actors
in tv shows&commercials according to race.The result was overwhelmingly
Caucasian.

10 yrs later,mid 00's she had another class repeat the assignment...the
results were very different,still a white majority,but greatly reduced.

It seems in the movies today,if it's to be a team/group effort,every
race has to be included with at least one member,which could be called tokenism.

I like watching TCM mainly to see the old classic cars.I can't think
of a better example of how much things have changed than to watch
old movies where the "Chinese" and "Indians" were often played by
white actors,and the only black people were maids or elevator operators.

btw,I'm a mixture of 3 races,so I guess I'm a hybrid?or,mongrel,lol

I forgot to mention one other thing...although the Chin-Cdn girls
I referred to def. didn't like the idea of a Chin. ma-in-law I can't
say that they hated their culture,just that aspect of it.
