Vancouver Canucks Tickets are overpriced

Just like real estate in Vancouver.
Example, last year, I bought two tickets lower bowl, behind the goal, and spent about $170 for a not-so-hit game.
This year, with $170, you can only buy one lower bowl ticket, same seating as last year. The price is doubled.
This is insane. :eyebrows::eyebrows::eyebrows:

Yeah Canucks decided to double all prices.....
If they sell out almost immediately, they arent over priced

Ticketmaster is charging $103 for my seats, I believe they were $91 last year.
The season ticket holder price, was $59 last year, $62 this year.

Lower bowl this year starts at $153 up from $144
Not double anyways. If you got a pair lowerbowl for $170 last year, it was from a scalper in a hurry.
Ticket master hasnt charged $85 each since the 90s

Since the team made it to the Stanley cup, the popularity of the Canucks would ensure the high demand and the price for the regular season games. It's all about supply and demand! I wonder what will happen to ticket prices if the team struggles this year.

well it's a sport only for the rich now. makes it hard to cheer for the team when they don't give a shit about the middle class, where most of their actual true fans come from.

I don't think is just the Canucks. Look at the price to go to a LA Lakers game, or a Candiens game in Montreal. Sports tickets in general are expensive. Unless you go watch a hockey game in Tampa or Phoenix, everywhere is pricey....

It's kinda stupid where the salaries rise / salary cap rises and the ticket prices go up to keep up with the salary cap. It defeats the whole purpose.

thing is the canucks made like 40 million of pure profit from the playoffs, plenty enough to cover the salary cap going up 3 million. a small price increase like 2 or 3 dollars might be mildly acceptable, but $10 is just plain price gouging. 5 years from now when the sedins are retired, kesler is past his prime, luongo is pushing 40, and basically the team sucks, you think they will lower ticket prices? of course not. then when the fans stop coming because the team is losing like they did in the past (remember the late 90's-early 00's), the first thing the canucks will do is complain about fan support.

Jeeze SR, that IS simple eh? Could the same logic be applies to all the whiners who feel "SP's are overpriced"? Hahaha

Anytime there is a discussion about "BMW's/Quality SPs/Canuck Tix/Manicures/Housekeepers/Oil Changes/Bus Tix/i-Tunes/Gardeners/etc are too expensive", I think to myself "WTF is wrong with the these folks?" Like SR said, vote with your wallet. Oh wait, you reeeeeaaaaly want to keep attending the Canucks games, right? That is called demand. And the magical laws of supply vs demand are always linked to any market. You wanna play? You gotta pay. Whining about it doesn't change reality. I'd like a sandstone house on a corner, 2 acre lot in Mt. Royal area of Calgary. Unfortunately, I can't afford (or choose not to afford) the ~$3-4M entry price. Is whining going to bring prices down to my comfort level?
Hasn't yet...

And for all those who feel that "demand is artificially high because non-fans are now buying the tix. REAL fans can't compete, and that's not fair!" I say to you, "too bad". Sentimentality does not show up on any business financial statement, including the Canucks organisation. Its a business, and will conduct itself accordingly.

Yes stupid Flanders it IS that simple....a perfect example is the car I am going to purchase in the future....according to the manufacturer's website the MSRP is a set price + delivery/AC & tire tax and also the GST yet the Calgary dealerships want to gouge me for an additional $1700 over the MSRP for "mandatory" dealership installed extras that I as a consumer dont want....I tell the salesman that I wont pay for the extras because as a consumer I dont want them.I am told that if I dont want them they will have to order the car and that it will take 6-8 weeks...or if I choose they can do a dealership transfer for the same vehicle but at an extra $300.....I told they salesman that as a consumer I did not like this and that I tend to "vote with my wallet"....the stunned fuck just did not get it....1 phone call later to a dealership in Edmonton and voila....I have the car I want at the price I want and without "mandatory" dealership installed extras that I dont want....the downside is that I have to take the bus to Edmonton...tis a small sacrifice to save myself $1700 and vote with my wallet and in so doing telling an arrogant salesman to fuck himself.

Speak up and vote with your wallet.:thumb:

The problem is Vancouver is full of crybabies.

I listed preseason games on craigslist.....ticketmaster cost 103.......my cost 62..........listed on craigslist for 25.
I get 6 emails within 10 minutes, 3 of them bitching about $25 being a ripoff, one guy offering $15, but wants them delivered to surrey....about 80km roundtrip. Oh and some guy telling me how its illegal to scalp tickets.

People in Vancouver are dumb enough to believe that if the canucks lowered prices, magically THEY would somehow get tickets easier

Well there is one option only then. Why waste your money on expensive tix?
Stay home watch the game on TV and also be able to enjoy affordable beer
at the same time.

While I'm at it, all that traffic and shit to go and get back from the games
and whatever the hell it is you pay for parking your car.

Oh yah or you could take skytrain and put up with all the miserable idiots
that line up to get back home.

No thanks!

I like the cheaper beer deal at home hands down. :thumb:

I find that a crowded pub with friendly staff gets me the same atmosphere (if not better) than the games I used to enjoy live.

I agree that watching a game in a pub is fun.

Thing that pisses me off is that some pubs, the second the period is over
will crank up the music to mega-decibels.These a..tards can't grasp the
concept that everyone is in there to watch the game and just maybe
might be interested in the between-period stuff. If you don't like Cherry
go to the can during his rant.

Hear ya,Rintin, the juniors give value for the ticket price. These 17-18 yr old
guys only know one way...all out.

Yah, it's all about finding the right pub.

Speaking of mega-decibels, either I'm getting older or it's getting louder at Canuck games :(

Any team that takes the possibility of purchasing tickets away from families will not have my support. I was in Montreal and the low end ticket was $32 and the high end ticket was around $150 i think (it might have even been less) and that was for single game tickets. And there is absolutely no demand for hockey in Montreal is there? It's not like it's a part of their culture or anything. At least they try to balance it so maybe one night a year a family of 4 can splurge and go see their fav team without having to take out a loan.

I agree with others who said go see the Giants. I have seen 15 or 20 games plus the Memorial Cup and I can honestly say I have seen one snoozer. I have seen several snoozers watchings the Canucks play over various eras. Not worth my time or money.

On the flip side I dont see anybody whining when they sold a couple games worth of season tickets during the Stanley Cup final last spring....and for prices high enough to pay for their seasons tickets for the 2011/2012 season

Prices for season ticket holders are actually very reasonable. Single game tickets from ticketmaster are astronomical. The mark up is insane, i never look on ticketmaster anymore. STH that sell on craiglist sell for a small profit, but they are still far cheaper than what you can buy on ticketmaster. I have no problems with people re selling their tickets, I have a problem with ticketmaster and their absurd marked up prices.

If it free on TV everyone should stop complaining. The only time I complained about the Canucks was when they had they obnoxious pay per view for regular season games. Now that is nuts!
