i've picked up more than a few university students and waitresses over the years. in fact, my current gf was my server at bp a few years back. lol. have never got a cheerleaders number though.

and believe me, i was nervous as fuck every single time. but i got to the point of just pulling the trigger without over thinking it. if u can do that, u're over the first hurdle. i mostly just chat and ask questions i know they can't give me a one word answer to. key is to get them talking about themselves... in other words shut up and listen and ask questions to keep them talking.

when i can see that the chat has been going well, at a certain point mid-conversation i tell them i gotta go meet up with some friends (even if i don't), and that they've been really fun to talk to and compliment them on something u picked up during the conversation. for me, usually it's their personality/sense of humour b/c that's what catches my eye over looks any day. then i drop the hammer and rip out the "you know what, *insert compliment here*, i'm prob never gonna meet u again and i'm gonna kick myself later if i don't ask. but i'd love to grab ur number and take u out for a bite sometime." get the digits AND LEAVE.

don't ask me why it works, but it does. guess it's bold enough, but not overbearing. i don't really consider it a pick-up line, but more of a strong closer to the convo. of course nothing is 100%, but i've gotten many a number from using it with confidence.

some dudes get many ladies numbers by being semi-douchebags or almost making fun of the girl. personally that's never worked for me. it's tough for me to be a dick. lol. but hey, it gets those fellas numbers so whatever works for ya right?

But the reverse has happened to me. They have bagged me.
I have been lucky in that respect, all my jobs have brought me in contact with large numbers of women.

You have to act like you've been there before. Chuckanut is bang on. Act interested, but in a way that makes it seem casual, like you've got other stuff going on. Keep any compliments very simple and sweet and don't talk to much. Ask her lots and lots of questions. Not just random questions. Start with something and then ask multiple questions about that subject whether it be school, work, dancing, where she grew up. People like to talk about themselves, and subconsciously, if the other person does more talking during the conversation they generally leave the conversation feeling good (it's an old sales trick). It helps them feel comfortable knowing that they've opened up to you, even if you haven't opened up to them. Try it with random people, it will get you far in life, whether it be from the dude selling you a phone in the mall (who throws in some sweet accessories) or your hairdresser who ends up setting you up with a smoking hot friend because you're a "nice guy" (more like a wolf in sheep skin).

Go out for a night on the town. You will notice that the guys jumping around like frat boys doing shots like they're in a rap video aren't the ones picking up hot chicks. It's usually the quieter (more mysterious) guys who sweep in for the kill, without really doing anything. I usually let my friends do the talking and wait for the girls to engage me. Girls like a project and if they see that you're not up in the forefront, and super interested in them, they'll start to wonder why...

np dude. just be bold and confident without being a dick. it can be a bit of a tightrope at first, but with experience u'll get it down. the key is just keep trying. the worst they can say is no. accept it, and just move on to the next one. i did that till i found a great gal. hence the retirement from the hobby. failure leads to success. haha, i feel like tony robbins.
