How Important is it to be well dressed?

So I've moved from the field to the office and noticed I am better dressed than 95% of the other men. Almost all are married or in relationships, and I'm single, making me wonder exactly how important is it? Are women nicer and more apt to be approachable if you're well dressed?

I can tell if a man is wearing cheap dress clothes from ten feet away just by the seams and colours they wear. Expensive clothes also crease differently because they are natural fibres and not polyester.

How important is it that a man wears a Canali or Zegna suit versus a Jones New York or Calvin Klein suit, or does a woman just think he's wasting his money and being vain?

If you start talking about Brown Shoes I will know you are Sperminator and report you haha. :p

Depends where you are working and who the clients are IMHO. I work from home in shorts / tee shirt and only dress up when I visit outside clients. Yesterday was sort of a dress down day visiting clients wearing khaki pants and a black Lululemon tee shirt. I was the best dressed person there IMHO.

It is very important to be well dressed also the timepiece that we wear. This all gives you a bold statement of the person you are.

I have an Omega Seamaster quartz with a black face and a Breitling Colt quartz with a charcoal face. I can't afford a Rolex unless I give up this hobby. LOL. The watch I wear the most though is a Timex Expedition because the date is always right and it's durable.

FYI...If anyone has an automatic watch you can always buy a watch winder that will keep your time and date running.

I had a Tag Heuer 2000 automatic and gave it to my brother. Automatics are overrated in my opinion. They are off by at least 3 seconds a day, have to be taken in for service every few years to recalibrate them and that's in addition to being more expensive to purchase. I don't see the upside unless you get murdered wearing the watch. The police can extrapolate back 40 hrs from when the watch stopped to find out your time of death. LOL

Women noticed well-dressed men. Some guys look good in anything, but for the average Joe, you need to dress well to be recognized. When I dress well, that also boosts my confidence!

I have noticed it when i wear pants with a crease and a clean dress shirt .. and a sport jacket or nice leather jacket , heads turn ..
I feel better all dressed up but usually i am all dressed up and no wear to go ... I dress up less and less these days .. i just like to be comfortable in what ever i am wearing . if it is wrinkled and worn i am OK, as long as it fits comfy. and i can get it dirty.

Personally i look at people in suits and say they are over dressed for the job .. even when they are working with a bunch of other people in suites . Few people even look good in a suit unless it is well made and they have a good physical and proportioned body .

Based on the description of your wardrobe, sounds like Poorboy may be a misleading handle choice.

I think being well dressed is over rated. It can also backfire on you. If the girl thinks you spend too much time on your appearance, or she keeps getting well dressed men trying to get her attention - being another well dressed man is going to bore her.

More important than being well dressed is to disarm the girl. Being well dressed might impress her, but it may put her on her guard.

There was this highly desired girl I knew who guys were constantly hitting on all the time. Guys constantly were offering her things, inviting her places, getting dressed up when they knew she would see them, etc. One day I contrived to run into her, and purposely dressed in old jeans and a normal white shirt - and it wasn't even ironed, and a pair of sandals. There she was at the cafeteria and I sat down next to her with my food, she was with her girlfriends. As I was sitting myself down, all the guys around looked to see who was sitting next to her. I chatted her up for awhile, invited her to a movie, and then we dted and became a couple.

All it took was being bold and direct, and not caring about rejection. She was taken by surprise, and I won the big prize.

Watches might matter to the older generation. However to the younger generation it really doesn't matter at all.

OMG men in suits are hot! Especially as they seem rare these days.

Ok, there is a difference between the suits the JWs wear and the guys who make my neck swivel. So, the cut, hang and fabric of the suit are important...as much as what's hanging inside eh?

Anyway, one young guy has asked me "Girls really like guys in suits eh?" after noticing all the girls in his school ogling some fellows in suits who were visiting.

I don't get how a suit can be any less comfortable than a track suit if it fits properly...it shouldn't pinch or be restricting to your movements. Have a couple in your closet with the appropriate shirt and it's a 'no brainer' to get dressed every day.

Men are lucky. When women wear suits (with skirts) there are the stockings or pantyhose and the heels that can wear one down after a couple of hours (stockings don't breath)...guys just wear the same ole underwear and socks...

Anyways, a man in a suit speaks of confidence and direction, even if he's going nowhere LOL

OK, i'm a socks & sandals kinda guy! & when i get the ladies in the bedroom, my black socks NEVER leave my feet! To top off my ensamble, i usually never take off my wrist watch with the little calculator on the face. If thats not OOZING self confidence, i don't know what is :thumb:

Being well dressed is not about what brands you wear, what's in style, or how much it costs, it's about what looks good on YOU. I honestly think most of the stuff in style right now is revolting, lol, so you should just choose what you like, what fits your body shape, and rock it! ;)
