Paul Nicklen is an inspiration to anyone with an interest in Arctic wildlife -- and anyone who grew up close to nature and wants to save what is left of it. Nicklen grew up on Baffin Island in Canada's Arctic in an Inuit community. Immersed in the habitat from an early age, Nicklen went on to complete a degree in marine biology and began a career as a wildlife biologist. However, it was his skill with a camera that finally took over and changed the direction of his professional life.

Diving under the Antarctic ice to get close to the much-feared leopard seal, photographer Paul Nicklen found an extraordinary new friend. Share his hilarious, passionate stories of the polar wonderlands, illustrated by glorious images of the animals who live on and under the ice.

Thanks for that. It's good to have an idea what quality time with deadly predators is like.

And thanks for the rest as well.

and the ones with the monkeys fucking, so funny! and that little brown one, orangutan? partying while getting a diaper change. hahahha. i just want one.

Yes, the little red ape is an orangutan. So cute!

The ones fucking, the little guy smiling and the last photo where one orphan is comforting another - are all apes also (not monkeys ;)), they're bonobos. They might look similar to chimpanzees but they're actually very different. They're only found in Congo and like all the other apes, they're endangered because of loss of habitat, poaching for the bush meat trade or to be sold as pets...

And since we're talking about them, there's an interesting ted presentation about bonobos...if anyone's interested. They're pretty cool. :)

Merci mademoiselle Bijou, that was VERY awesome

I just watched it again and I really love watching it. Not just because of the beautiful images of these animals and the fascinating stories but also because it's so nice to see just how passionate he is about it.

Do any of you have something you feel this passionate about? Feel free to share.... :)
