Why would that guy be pissed and mad when you drove him to the airport? You lent him the money, and he has to pay you back. I don't get people sometimes.

I never lend anymore.
If its with my trusted buddies, and we are out for beers or dinner.
We take turns picking up tabs.

I just hate when there is like 4 guys out for dinner, and they ask for individual bills.
Its like highschool.

But unless its a wealthy friend that really just doesnt have cash on them.
Ie at the casino and he is at the table, will pay me back in an hour.

Lending leaves a bad taste in your mouth forever.
One of my buddies of a buddy, came camping with us once.
Mixed crowd. I paid for all the food at costco, another guy bought the booze, another covered the campgrounds.
The others would all chip in a mere $50.

One guy didn't have cash, and was all sarcastic about how he thought there would be an ATM at the campground.
Not his fault.
He was working fulltime and owned a home, I was still in school. Even to this day I still remember him for that, whenever I see him

He was pissed because he was shown to be a greedy prick who was called out and was gonna miss his flight if he didn't pay up.

I don't get it either. He still attempts to add me to his linked in account. I emailed him and told him I do not ever want to be linked with an 'attempted' thief.

I baught food for panhandlers but i refuse to give them any $. Just my policy not to give out any money
I give nothing to panhandlers....nada ...zip....bad enough they were doing that downtown but in the last couple years the trend of walking past vehicles waiting at a red light with a cardboard sign saying "homeless and no food please give" has gone through the roof......meanwhile they all have pretty nice mountain bikes locked up on the corner they work......dirtbags who dont want to work and feel they can sponge of society like a parasite...much like the "shakey lady" in Toronto...a Romanian gypsey that got citizenship in Canada....she sits at her chosen spot and just shakes and convulses and stupid people give her money....tourists mostly...a couple of years back a Torontonian saw an American couple about to give her a $50...he told them she was a fraud and they took off...the old gypsey jumped to her feet and wacked the guy upside the head with her cane and then promptly took off with her son in their Mercedes....she did get charged with assault though.

Panhandlers get nothing but my contempt.

Why would you have even gone to the micro in the first place with someone who didn't have the cash on hand to be there? If you were taking this acquaintence with you for the first time like a referral, you sure wouldn't have come off well to the micro managers.

Next time you'll know to make sure your "friends" are prepared with the fee.

With the info given, I'd just assume he didn't have cash on hand, but was already there. Had he been forewarned, he'd have probably hit up an ATM before going there rather than LAG.
Seriously? You blame LAG?
You expect LAG to ask his friend if he has enough money with him?
LAG is not the dude's mom.

Well, with this person i know he gets himself in a bind. Goes to these ritzy bars and have 10.00 drinks all day long. Even if he was short with rent ...not sure id help out. Maybe he found someone else to borrow from cause he's back at the bar drinking his expensive drinks lol. He even offered to pay for a escort at any price i want. Told him no need cause i dont wanna owe him anything(cause i dont want him to ask me for any $ ever again)

I

Last year I lent a close friend money to pay her rent, when she and her partner were in a bind.

Actually, i got into a bit of a argument infront of the papasan of the korean micro. Where we argued about money at the place. Told him no way im lending him $ to poon and he has to leave me something of value like his sunglasses or whatever. Lucky for me i've been to this place lots of times and the person running the place didnt get pissed off.

I have had a friend of this type....his usual "modus operandi" when the shit hit the fan and he lost his job would be to use his final paycheck upon a big splurge...buy drinks at the bar....pay for everything for 1 or 2 nights......and then leach off of everybody by guilting them for the next 2 months...I fell for it once and only once......since then I have seen that guy go down in flames like so many BF109's over Hamburg after the 100th bomber group did a run.....pretty pathetic guy actually...thus far he has 1 or 2 illegitimate kids whom he does not take care of and is going to get married again soon......the gal must like losers LOL

Kudos to LAG if you stoutly told this leach of a friend to fuck off.

Soon as i hear he's going to pay for a free escort at any price as a apology. I knew if i take the freebie i'll hear about it forever and maybe give him double or tripple whatever he gave me. Seen it from drunks or people have problems with money. They give u something small and then expect or guilt you into 2-3 times what they gave. Not sure if it's all planned or they discuss this shit with their loser drunk buddies this strategy.

use his final paycheck upon a big splurge...buy drinks at the bar....pay for everything for 1 or 2 nights......and then leach off of everybody by guilting them for the next 2 months...I fell for it once and only once......

I lent a friend $200 years ago...and a week later I found out he moved to Toronto. Only reason I got the money back was years later he moved back to Vancouver...even then it took a year or so of asking for it back. Total "Lend" time approx 4 years.
He did give an extra $50 for my troubles, but I will never lend money out again...

I would be interested to hear from others who are on the side of borrowing the money and why it would take so long to pay someone back? Is it a feeling of entitlement? Forgetfulness? Or just hoping the lender would just forget about it.....

Sometimes it takes forever or never to see anything from them. Awhile back i had someone tell me he'll return a cellphone i lent to him(while he lost his). He gave me a bunch of attitude trying to make it seem like i should just give the phone to him free. Even though he got a iphone 4 and didnt need my phone i lent this person. Now i just say fuck this shit with lending people stuff or money

I give loan to my friend but when that person doesn't pay back.
I do not lend again. At work some one ask me lend quarter to buy coffee
I lend him the quarter, but if guy doesn't pay back. I will not lend again.
My friend lend me money to buy car. So I know the feeling

What do you do when you borrow?

From time to time we all borrow, weather its a toonie at tim hortons.
Or something small. I personally make sure I pay any amount I do borrow ASAP.
Its almost like a sickness, I burrow $2. I have it at your desk first thing the next morning.

I almost once had a gf that I had been dating only 3-4 weeks.
She asked to borrow about $1800. What a horrible feeling.

Look at this way : You dated for four weeks so it works out to $64 a day if it were to be considered a gift as opposed to a loan. That's better than most GFE pricing.

So, I'm curious as she was ALMOST a GF what did you do ? Did you give her the money as a loan or even a ' gift ' ?

No that was about the end of things. It wasn't for her rent or anything either, just spending money, to go on a trip with her friends.

I have two rules for friendship, I think they are great, use them and enjoy

1.) I won't ask you to help me move so don't ask me
2.) I only lend money to friends when I can afford to never get it back!
