BBBJ concern

Hello Health Nurse,

I saw a SP last week and I received BBBJ from her but no sexual intercourse. I haven't feel a thing yet but I read through the other threads that some STDs wil not show any symptoms. I am very concerned and worried now since i will have my immigration medical exam next week.

Is there anything I can do? any suggestions?

We find that many sexually transmitted infections (STI) do not show any symptoms. This is the reason why we suggest that people go for a regular checkup even if they feel fine.

It can take a bit of time for a test to show positive after you caught something (the window period). With a BBBJ your biggest risk is probably from chlamydia or gonorrhea, for accuracy we would recommend waiting 2 weeks before testing for these. If you develop symptoms, come in straight away.

It is common for us to see people who are worried or anxious after sex and this can take away from the enjoyment. There are many different ways to have sex and everyone has a different level of risk tolerance that is comfortable for them. I don’t know your full situation but you may be only concerned about your immigration medical. In regard to infectious diseases I believe they just test for syphilis, HIV and TB with this medical. We see people at the clinic who have tested positive for syphilis with this medical. It is not a problem just means they need to get treated.
