Yes it can definitely be an issue. I personally love pets and don't mind but some people are very allergic to pet dander, just like I am to cigarette smoke. I think it is an important question to ask if this is a concern for you.
The other problem for some might be pet hair on your clothing. For the married guys without pets it might be tough to explain or even a different type of hair than your pet might have. I used to see a regular of mine who had a very sweet little Pug dog. When I arrived the dog would greet me, which I didn't mind then she would put it in another room but still when I left I was covered in hair (Pugs shed alot). I'd keep a lint roller handy in my car so I could clean off before I went back to work.

Does it make a difference to you when booking an SP?
Yes, I am allergic to cats, and moving a cat (dog for those allergic to them) into another room does nothing to alleviate the problem. It is more about the dander from the animal than it is about where the animal is located at a particular moment.

Now don't get me started about the fools, with no concern for others, who bring their pets as carry on items on the plane; or those who get into a bath of perfume or cologne before going out or onto a plane?

Actually it does. Especially if the pet is in the room as you proceed through the session. The pet is a distraction at best and if the pet gets on the bed with you, the session is essentially over.
What's the matter Al, having trouble concentrating with that big fluffy cat staring at you? :p

You should certainly inform clients that you have a pet so that those with allergies are aware. If it's a dog or a cat I'd make sure it was locked in a separate room during the session and that it won't be making a lot of noise (barking etc).

Dogs are a pain. Once was in an SPs room with her, closed door. The dog sat outside the room barking the entire time.
She told me to ignore it, the dog barked literally the whole session. Was annoying.

Does it make a difference to you when booking an SP?
It's never been an issue with me. I like all sorts of pets, and seeing the the SP's pet tells me a little about her, as well as providing a good ice breaker. A long-time regular of mine has a cat who once decided to curl up next to me during a session.

Cats are definitely a problem, allergies. Within 20 minutes I can barely breath and am wheezing like crazy. Not sexy!

IMHO it's just good policy to keep pets away from the scene altogether. I love critters and have two cats that curl up with me at night but not if I have company and I'd never bring a date to my place if she has allergies. There have been times when I've gone home with a new date and the whole place smelled like cat piss or dog poop. Instant see ya don't bother to write reaction. How a client could enjoy even a hot hot session while breathing that smell I do not know. One time I went home from a bar with a new lady who did have a cat and the place smelled fine, I petted the kitty, had a loverly time with the lady and found later that the sweet kitty kat had pissed all over my new leather jacket. Free sex - 200 dollar jacket. ok it's funny NOW but at the time I had homicidal urges towards the kitty.

That settles it Vanessa. I definitely have to visit you and your puppy. (Is that what I meant to say?)

As for other pets that have either been good company or no problem, ferrets, cats, small dogs and a 150 lb rotwieller cross that stayed upstairs. Next time I visit I will take some smoked salmon for the dog and see if I can establish a friendly (or at least tollerant) rapport.

In Lust Mostly
I love dogs. Just not in the BR at the same time.

Recently, the SP's dog was back and forth, scratching at the door, whining to get out again etc over and over again.

Equated to a lack lustre session.

A SP I see on a regular basis removes the pet completely and I find it much better for me.

I have never been into performing in front of my dogs at home so I prefer the pets be out of sight. Just me, not being a hater. :D

I just realized something. Maybe the dog was just trying to pick up some tips on "doggy". :p
