As the comments in the story point out, TWO YEARS?? Why in the world did it take them 2 whole years to figure this all out?

The other thing I note is the entire tone of this story is really inflammatory, which relies a lot on the police information release, not real reporting of course. There are recent law changes, and suddenly it is no longer enough to simply do the bawdy house/living off the avails kind of story in the link below. Today it is all about sex slaves and human trafficking, so hysterical to be ridiculous. As the comments in the story posted above, if we are so concerned about the impact of socalled sex slavery and trafficking where is the story about what happens to these women? What happened to all the women from 2 years ago, the ones it seems the police were completely unconcerned about in their efforts to gather evidence FOR TWO YEARS.

another problem is, these women, if they refused to state they were trafficked, are likely in prison awaiting deportation. i notice they mentioned that they offered the women access to supports and housing, this at least is a step in the right direction. i hope they took translators,etc.

...or, they were bribed by offers of support and housing, to say that they were trafficked...

you may be right, but political fodder or not, the battering rams are still crashing through the doors of licensed businesses

in the normal business world, operating without a license could get you teated as a criminal, but operating with a license should be a different matter. simple violations of license conditions should warrant a far less physical response

It's funny how the CBC's The National reported the incident and CBC News Vancouver at 11, a short 10-minute local newscast after The National that would usually report the incident, didn't.

Do you think they don't gossip about it on social networks online? That they can't find information online for themselves to make an informed decision as to whether or not it is the wise thing to do? Do the authoritiies here think these women are so stupid? The police bust the place they're working at and it's all over. A net loss. Time to go back home with the tail between their legs with only a fraction of what they could've earned and a Canadian Border Services Agency red flag on their name to NEVER let them re-enter the country again. This is strictly a business enterprise they enter into akin to winning the lottery in their home country.

That dufus media whore Benjamin Perrin got his two bits in on that Eric Rankin report too. He has no idea what he's talking about, yet he's loving the madia attention to further his political aspirations and his bullshit lawsuit against Criagslist. People like him know that there are very few people out there willing to contest the true facts for fear of self-labelling. You either buy into the garbage story the police and the media are feeding you or you're an insider, I.E. a john, a pimp or a prostitute. After all, how would you know if you claim you've never purchased sex or have never been an SP, a claim you make out of fear for being looked down upon by the majority of the public, or worse yet, losing your job or status because of that connection. Lots of people exploiting this bullshit story for what it really isn't. It's a truly tragic story that they paint to sell a few products and there are so many gullible people out there lining up to gobble it all down.

We need to clean up Craigslist ourselves. The cookie-cutter Chinese micro ads have almost completely drowned out all the posts by independent girls. We need to start flagging these "new girl ???? providing rimming etc..." ads. LE can do their part to go after the scum that exploits these women and we need to do our part by repeatedly flagging their ads on CL.

The independent girls really aren't that much more expensive either. I'm a convert. I just poon a little less freq now. However, it woud be nice if some of the girls here would have a short term "promotion" to meet us half way on pricing to further make the micros less appealing. Good for business and good for Karma

I agree somewhat on flagging, but don't flag the ones that are not violating the CL terms of service just because you don't like that particular race of SP. If they are advertising falsely (i.e. using fake photos, bait and switch, same ad on multiple CL sites, etc, that is a direct violation of the terms of service and warrants a flag. But just because you don't like Chinese SPs or the fact that they use templates for their ads doesn't warrant flagging.
