Anyone ever go there? I went for my first time recently. Played some BJ & roulette,
ended up about $30 with bets of between $5-15, mostly 5's, in about an hour.

Play at the roulette table was really slow with so many people and it was the ripoff
American, not European version. I could have played 100 spins online in the time
it took them to do one.

So i soon left for the 5 dollar BJ tables, limits going up to 300 bucks. Had the Asian
lady beside me stare at me for about 10 seconds at one point. I guess she didn't
like the way i was playing. LOL

Yes, there's etiquette in BJ which is tricky... if the lady had issues she should have walked to another table or wait 'till you were done.

Never played at edgewater but have been to RiverRock.
Doesn't come close to the Vegas experience where despite loosing a lot of $$ on the BJ table entertainment value is superior.

Percentage of asian population in the local casinos is too high for my taste

I just discoverred the excitement of playong online poker in freerole (i.e. free) tournaments . It's a semi real experience for a prize of about $6 in a 3 hour tournament :)

Table games are for people who want to, or don't realize they WILL lose money. Poker is for people who want to potentially make money. Table games ALWAYS have odds for the casino. So, if you play from time to time, no problem, if you play consistently you will lose money where as Poker it is just you against other players. Not a huge fan of Edgewater myself.

I've been hearing there are pro poker gamblers who frequent Edgewater. Not sure if the BJ
can be beaten there by card counting. Maybe that's why i got "the look".

She was looking at me like i should move!

Quite a lot of Asians there that night. Apparently they love to gamble.

Never been to Vegas, but played at Main street {closed} and Broadway Holiday Inn {closed too, last i saw}.

I've heard Edgewater will move near the stadium and be much bigger. After games people will be right there.

I'd like to learn craps. Maybe poker too.
Craps is a bit tough to learn for some....for others it is easy.....it is fun though....and when you get 4 people in a row that are chucking the dice you can make a shitload of cash....my personal best was 12 "field rolls" in a row that included 3 consecutive "snake eyes" followed by a 12....had I bet on the eyes and parlayed I would have walked out with just shy of 100 grand off a $10 bet....I did not....but I was the only guy betting on the field....I did manage to run $10 up to $900...whilst eveybody else at the table made nothing.

Playing craps is fun and fast paced....the swings are crazy...if you hit the table when someone is throwing hot dice it is sweet.....on the same note...when someone is chucking icecubes it hurts and it hurts hard....especially when the point is set on a 9 anf you bet a $30 6/8 + the hardways as well as a $10 4/5/10 as well as odds on your line bet only to have the shooter throw a 7......fuck I hate that....no numbers....no hardways....no point.....just a shitty throw of the dice that kills all bets.

In a State of Denial
I used to play there, but it has changed ownership since. It is owned by a Las Vegas firm, believe it or not. Before the Edgewater, I used to play at this casino on Keefer. It was a dump, but it was the best we had in Vancouver at that time.

I learned to play Blackjack there, and I treated it as my bank. Whenever my girlfriend (the one that I wrote about), wanted money I would go to the Casino and make a withdraw. Now the game of Blackjack has changed so much (shuffling machines, dealers hit on 17, etc.) that I started losing big, and stopped playing altogether.

I am starting to play Poker though, at River Rock and I did play in the Vancouver Championship at Edgewater, and though I lost, it was fun, even if they were cheap with the lunch break, but so what.

Don't play the slots, they are so tight, you could go to Greece with them for less than a brown. ;)

Hate Edgewater...no atmosphere at all...

Riverrock is much better, but all the asians can get annoying at either places.

Do the local casinos let people keep a balance there like online sportsbook/casinos?

Is Riverrock in Richmond? Maybe i'll trip out there one evening & also catch
some MP's while in the area.

There were some hot Asian dealers & customers at Edgewater. That's one
of the main attractions. LOL

Yeah, i was checking out the cafeteria at Edgewater. They also had a bar and a lady
was bringing around a cart offering refreshments. Not sure if they allow alcohol at
the tables while playing.

Damn. That does sound complicated, though i suppose poker is even worse.
Ever try that game with the "banker"?

I don't waste my time at local casinos since customer service does not exist. Basically $10 drinks and they allow idiots to come in and ruin a flow of the action. There is absolutely no need for pitt bosses here as they do nothing! Mark me down as one who will never spend another $ in a local casino until they get their act together.

Thank God for Vegas baby!

I dont waste time with local casinos either cause the dealers have no clue what's going on. If you play poker, blackjack, bacarat, roulette etc you always see them screw up and constant mistakes. That's probably cause they are not trained very well and unexperience cause they are underpaid. I know dealers personally and im told they have a high turnover.

Ya, Riverrock is in Richmond. Unfortunately, they moved the poker room across the street and it sucks...was much better upstairs.

Ten dollars a drink! What a ripoff. How does Vegas compare?
