There was some good banter on the 1040 post game show. They interpreted Lou's "less than 7" comment as being gallows humour, and I agree. And his comments about his team mates always come off as finger-pointing, as a side effect of his positions as goalie/Captain. I expect him to be replaced as Captain next year.
Biggest failure? DEMITRA! His turnover was exact moment the game became un-winnable. This, from the man who turned in the hottest offensive performance when playing for his country in the Olympics. HELLO? We actually PAY YOU to play!
I don't like :uongo, but I think he was being sarcastic about his performance, too.

Demitra was a bust, but on that play Wellwood gave him the puck where he had no way to play it.

Players only work hard when their contract is up. Having sign a big contract, they don't give a shit after that. Luongo and Kesler proved that theory. I wished that Players contracts should be based on their performance in the playoffs. For example for next year, Louie should be paid 5 mil for the reular season .... and get his other 5 million if he wins the Stanley cup. i am pretty sure, he will stand on his head and do whatever it takes to win.
I totally agree with you. All these guys are over-paid. As you have said even though they lost their game, it doesn't affect their contracts. Their attitude is they rather prefer to have an early summer holiday than to work hard for another two to three weeks to win the cup!

Suppositely if the club owner said if you guys lost again in the second round, everyone will deduct one million dollars from their pay-cheque.Then you will see some better spirit from this team! That is my opinion!

Ok, you boys want to get rid of Mitchell, Bieksa, etc....trade them to who, and for who? Who's availible? Who's going to replace these guys and play at the same level or better? Sure, trade away the team, but who is out there to replace what you've traded away. Prospects?....get real. Future considerations? Now please base this in reality, what can Gillis really do with what's out there and availible? What sort of market value does the players you want traded have? You can whine, bitch and moan all you want about this or that player, trade Bieksa for Doughty....obviously you have no idea how trades and the lot works in the NHL....

Luongo is only human, and being hung out to dry a goalie can do only so much....when your defense is several men and a teste short due to injury, your forwards are beat up, lack size etc...playing a team that has you scouted...Chicago was the better team, simpe as that. Go Montreal!!

After watching the highlights, I can somewhat understand why Luongo said what he said he did after all bang his head on the net. So please show some compassion.
Yeah whatever. So much for naming the moron as captain.
As long as the CANNOTS continue to make dumb-ass decisions, they will never win the cup.

Quit making excuses. Montreal has been injured w/o their best player (other than Halak) & Dman, Markov, for almost the entire Pens series (game 1), & still found a way to win.

Bottom line: Luoie was inconsisdent & didn't bring his A game for arguably his 2nd most important game of his life. He choked and definitely deserves to be thrown under the bus, if not be reversed and drive all over him like linguini bc he sucks and porobably the biggest con job since alexei yashin's contract.

Is a good site for knowing contract lengths and numbers, although it gives total expected Cap Hit it doesn't give it for each player. Like Lou will make 10 mil next year but only a 5.5 mil cap hit. Canucks are in good shape for hte off season, lots of cap space to make moves where as the hawks are not. Going to be tough for the hawks in the next few years to fill the team they will have plenty of cheap 3rd and 4th liners due to no cap space

This is it. All the experts going on about the Canucks.
Fans can fantasize all they want. The problem (and this goes for Leaf Nation, too) is that ownership may or may not give a shit about improving the team. The number of times I've heard fans say "the Leafs/Canucks/whoever need to do this, this and this"...none of it matters if ownership doesn't care. Fans are only deluding themselves if they think their plan/strategy for greatness is gonna come to fruition.

What do you think?
On D:
Bieksa, Salo, Edler, Ehrhoff and Rome stay
Mitchell and O'Brien are gone
Oberg and Funk up and coming
Andrews dumped to the minors or traded
Morrisonn (Wash) is a UFA
Martin (NJD) is a UFA
Souray (Edm) wants a trade
Seabrook (Chi) maybe as they need cap room desperately next year but not likely, but I can fantasize right

On F:
H Sedin, D. Sedin, Burrows, Samuelsson, Kessler, Hansen, Raymond, and Grabner all return
Wellwood will be offered 1.3 to stay
Hodgson will come up to play
Bliznak, Shirokov, Stastny and Desbiens are up and coming
Rypien and Glass maybes
Jokinen (NYR) is a UFA
Marleau (SJS) is a UFA
St.Louis at 34 years old, maybe. I'm thinking more of a power forward if available but he would be the highest rank skill player potnetially available
Backstrom (Wash) is a RFA and Fantasy
Neal (Dal) is a good young power forward and RFA
Be nice to Ignila as a Canuck but won't happen
Frolov (LAK) is a UFA

Gillis will have to do some magic to get someone very good, but I'd go after a top 3 d-man as the main goal.

As I'm sure Gillis is a pooner and a perber he will look at this and go with it

Some of you guys need to give your heads a shake.

The Canucks went to round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and lost in game 6. And some talk about how terrible the team and players are.

Washington didn't make it past round 1. So that must mean Ovechkin sucks, using the same logic.

Pittsburg lost in game 7 of round 2. They must be terrible as well, using the same logic. Must be time to trade Crosby and Malkin!!

Guys, its sport. Entertainment.
I've thoroughly enjoyed the season. Wish we could have enjoyed it a little longer, but that's not the way it worked out.
Look forward to the next season.

Cheers.
Common sense reigns at last.

I don;t know if I agree with all of your picks here. Jokinen doesn't seem like a playoff performer at all. Bliznak is probably a career minor-leaguer. Marleau will be too expensive as the Canucks have to fill holes at D and only have 10 mil cap space. That's where they should throw any $.

Nice to see a posting talking about solutions though rather than endless personal attacks, insults and the same old hateful crap by the trolls on this board.

If you're Marleau, why would u sign with Nucks? The Sharks r a better team slightly, both r playoff choke artists, can't get past the 2nd rounds. Beside we have one of most stupidiest management decisions to name a goalie captain. Marleau would be nuts to come here.

Let's hope Gillis doesn't screw up another move or signing ie Demitra, Sundin, resigning the 'guaranteed to lose' Sisters....

What about Matt Cooke? He was once Canucks! Gone to Penguins and a Stanley Cup Champion last year with the Penguins!
It's not how they sign. It's how they play! Canada has less money than US to let these players to go further.
In conclusion, wasting their time! Even though you pay them more comparatively speaking, it's still less than the US.
