I was given advance notice yesterday by our incredible and sexy receptionist STAR that I had been scheduled for a 9am appointment with a “New to the Studio and New to Jessica” client.
I arrived at the studio on the early side, 8:30, the time the morning receptionist arrives. After a few minutes sitting in a sun drenched car, listening to music, feeling about as happy as a Bunny can feel, my phone rang. The owner was calling from out of town to inform me the receptionist was running late. ……. LATE? NO. SHE’S LATE? TODAY?
And then the reality settled in. A brand new client was due to show up for 9 o’clock and … Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Breathe Jessica, breathe. Now Think. I have his phone number. Good. Text him. Explain the situation even though I really don’t understand it. Cross your paws that he’s a super understanding person. Swallow hard, text and …’click’ send. Tick tock tick tock tick tock …BING. His reply indicates he will be in the lot in ten minutes.
This could be a disaster, for myself and for the studio. Not cool at all to open late, so very unprofessional and so totally out of my control. A little bit of help here please?
Ah ha. I always carry my lucky rabbit’s foot. Today it validated it’s good luck ‘CHARM’ title because Charm was exactly who arrived ten minutes later.
A big truck driven by a big man with a coffee in his hand and a cowboy hat atop his head pulled into the lot, got out of his truck, looked at me …and smiled.
After making a brief apology on behalf of the studio I realized this was not a disaster. This was a gained opportunity, which allowed a bit of ‘real’ talk between two ‘real’ people.
This Gentleman (and I use that word with conviction) would have been completely justified to be angry and upset. Instead he was considerate and almost sympathetic of how life can, at times, present situations that muck up our plans regardless of how good our intentions are.
And so, having been given his permission, I have written you this sweet bedtime story with a very happy ending.
Adding Gentleman Cowboy to my “Hoping I’m on his ‘To see again list’ list ...(It is becoming a wonderfully long list, complimenting all of my clients). All of you, everyone, clients, potential clients, gents who have no desire to ever see me but read my writings (thank you for all the notes) and to all the other ladies, please know how much I appreciate you, each and every one of you. Thank you.
EDITED: Please Note: I created the nameGentlemanCowboy to this man, not knowing who he is and not knowing if he is a Perb member...it occured to me overnight that there may be a GentlemanCowboy on Perb already ...sorry if there was any confusion.
