Zidane got fined $6,014 and three game ban but will do community service with children and Materazzi got fined $4,010 and two match ban. The ban includes international competitive matches,so Materazzi will miss two games in Euro 2008.

I think the punishment for both players was too soft .
Zidane and Materazzi should have received larger fines and harsher punishment .
They are both high profile soccer/football players who are role models for the youth. It appears some well known professional athletes do not take their job seriously enough. They do not know how to conduct themselves properly on and off the game field. Most youths idealize these professional athletes.
Doesn't Materazzi just have to sit out 2 international matches. I'd assume he'd miss a couple of qualifying matches considering qualifying games start next month and the Euro isn't for a couple of more years.
Funny, though. I wonder how they came to the conclusion that Materazzi deserved a ban (2 games versus 3 games for Zidane). I wonder what they are basing it on. If Zidane got 3 for an actual physical assault, Materazzi got 2 for "supposedly" (we'll never know for sure) saying something naughty?
Anson Carter will probably not be backi as a Canuck because I think he is an overpriced/overrated player. I enjoy hockey and I have played two years of College hockey. However, soccer might be boring for most North Americans but soccer/football is well watched in all over the world compared to ice hockey.
I am sad to hear you for hate soccer. Have you ever tried to play or learn rules of soccer ? Are you one of those couch coaches who have never played any types of organized sports but hate certain ones
