Woman Pleads Guilty To Operating Bawdy House

A 52-year old Winnipeg woman won't be sentenced until Tuesday after pleading guilty Monday to sexually exploiting a 14-year old girl in her home. Peggy Doreen Melquist pleaded guilty to keeping a common bawdy house and living off the avails of prostitution. She has already spent three months in custody. The Crown and Defence are recommending a six month sentence which gives double credit for time served.

Was there a 14 yr old found dead? When? I thought there was an 18 yr old found dead on the outskirts in August.

If I read the facts correctly, the girl was 14 at the time of the charges, but several years past before the case came to trial (so she would have been 18 at the time of her death).

What a horrible, horrible story... it's tragic that anyone would have to live a life like this. Something to think about for all the guys who pick up street walkers. I remember there was one guy on here bragging about how he managed to talk a street walker into giving him sex at a really cheap rate. What a thing to be proud of.

You're right!! The laws in place are harmful and give guys like that one bragging even more of an opportunity to exploit those who are most vulnerable...things NEED to change!!
