On the same subject, I see where Scotty Two Hotty has been banned again, this time for using multiple handles. I recall what a big to do he made last year about leaving the board and asking for a permanent ban, then just a few days later he was caught sneaking back in under another handle. Apparently he's been coming back and back and back ever since under various names.
What continues to puzzle me is why people ask for permanent bans, Marvin being the most recent example of someone making that request. If one is capable of even a modicum of self-restraint, they just don't need to sign on to the site anymore. If, for whatever reason somewhere down the road they decide they want to come back, they just come back as who they were originally, no fuss, no muss.
I have done three self-bannings in the past six months, once for six weeks and the others for three and two weeks respectively. When I realized I was starting to take some of the stuff on here way too seriously, I understood that it was time for a break. I didn't know on any of the three occasions if I'd decide to come back. Maybe yes, maybe no. But I certainly didn't feel the need to ask a mod to ban me.
