Here are some choices, feel free to give me some ideas.. I'll add a poll later.

GLOCK-17, 9mm (Austria)

Sig Sauer P226 (Switzerland)

S&W .44 Magnum, 629 Classic (U.S.A.)

S&W 9mm (U.S.A.)
(is this the gun that LE in B.C. carry? Or is it the .45 version of this? Sometimes I see Sheriff's Deputies carrying the one that is silver on the top, black on the bottom)

S&W 500 "Most Powerful Production Revolver in the World Today"v(U.S.A.)

HK SP89 (Germany)
(This is kind of cheating, as it isn't really a "handgun" in my eyes, fucking cool looking though)

IMI Desert Eagle , 357 Magnum (Israel)

Gimme some more suggestions, boys and girls. Handguns only for this poll.

Like SIGs. But go for a .40, more potent than 9mm

S&W .44 Magnum
Girlfriend had one,6 inch 629, very intimidating, but too big for concealed carry. There used to be a Calgary police Supt who carried one.

RCMP use a S&W 9mm. Friday an officer killed a 250lb bear that fatally mauled a man with only two shots! The RCMP model is black and stainless with an RCMP logo, maybe your sheriffs are using the same model.

That's just silly.Be good for klunking someone on the head.
I really like the H&K USP compact, get one in .45. The Walther P99 is supposed to be really good but it's only 9mm or .40.
Nice HK submachine gun, they make the best gun ever, MP5SD with the fixed stock. Just about every SWAT team in Canada and the world for that matter, has them. Light, easy to shoot, and quiet. The one in your post, though, I'd worry about having my fingers that close to the muzzle, too easy to shoot your own finger off.

The 44

Best thing about a revolver is that the shell casings come with you after you shoot....less evidence to clean up! :D

However, it is a tad on the big side so I would go with the S&W 9 mil...

Full size semi-autos like your Glocks or what i own a Para .40 are to big and bulky. If these guns are going to be used for self-defence you don't need to shoot any farther than 10 yards or so. You wanna carry something small and compact. Like what the gangbangers carry and what are illegal in Canada. 28. or .32 caliber handguns with short barrel lengths. Say 3" or so. These will fit in your pant pockets without to much trouble. If you need more punch you can get a 9mm or a .45 with the same short barrel.

If you wanna impress then go for the .500 S&W. Actually carry two one on each hip. Thats a gun Dirty Harry would be proud. Just don't shoot it to often because the cartridges are about $6 dollars each. I kid you not.

Here are the guns that Westwoody mentioned in his post and a couple other cool guns.

HK USP Compact (9mm, .40, or .45) (Germany)

Walter P99 (9mm or .40) (Germany)

HK MP5 (Various models shown) (Germany)
(Note: These are totally prohibited in Canada except for police and military, not sure about the U.S. You might be able to own something like this in Georgia or somewhere like that)

HK SMG II (Germany)

HK 53 (.223) (Germany)

I was down at Cabelas in Minnesota and I was looking at a 50 cal Desert Eagle. It is both the coolest and most ridiculous thing I have ever seen it must weigh close to 10 pounds. If you're ever in the neighborhood of a Cabelas be sure and stop in. Any animal you can imagine killing they have a stuffed version of it on display.

Hey Kev or anyone else... ever fire anything like this? I have this vision in my head of it being like trying to fire off a 12-guage shotgun... but shrunk down into a small package that you hold like a handgun. Would it have a ton of kick, or is it not as bad as I'm thinking?

6 bucks a pop eh? This is like the Heidi Starr of handguns!! :D What a cannon though!! (Cannons in the case of Heidi)

I really don't give a shit what kind of a gun I would have! As long as it would save my life or someone elses'. In case of crisis.......only. I think.

No i haven't personally fired one, but i have seen others fire a .500.

All i can say is its really, really loud, and when you pull the trigger you better be prepared for a kick.

I'm not sure ghostie if i would call the .500 the Heidi Starr of handguns. A cartridge for the .500 S&W costs about $6 bucks. In comparison a cartridge for my .40 S&W costs .17 cents. Heidi's rate is only double other SPs rate, not 35 times more. In fact if i was to do the math she would have to charge (with $250 per hour the average) $8750 per hour. When you think about it Heidi is nothing but value.:D
